Every performance I've has definitely impressed me - he seems to have great chops and a real respect for the legends. And I really love Locked Out of Heaven.
But the rest of that album is full of duds. Production is great - but some of the stupidest lyrics ever. Even his lady problems aren't very interesting.

Well, one good song is a start... There's no doubt he has talent. Now, if he can just get past Justin Bieber Screaming Teenyboppers Stage... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Has anyone ever considered that the contemporary artist who parallels Prince is NOT a man, but a woman?

Let's see how comfortable the guy feels appearing in front of 10,000+ concert goes while wearing a seethrough lace outfit and I'll reconsider this claim.

Having been listening and following Bruno Mars since the beginning, I seriously don't get this Prince comparison, if anything it's more Michael Jackson than anyone else in this generation. The guy has been obsessed by MJ since he was 3 years old, he considers Dangerous to be one of the greatest albums ever made and that's what I hear in Unorthodox Jukebox, along with some other influences.... So could someone explain what's so Prince like with Bruno? Because outside the org, I never hear this comparison, not by his fans nor the press. I believe Bruno said he wishes he could be mysterious like Prince, because he has a hate-love relationship with the press though. Also to the people saying Prince plays 100 of instruments, are clearly lying or being stans because he only plays the bass, piano, guitar and drums and various versions of these instruments. This is also quite common among musicians who create their own music, so it's not unique and the instrumentalist thing came from Warner Brothers in the beginning to promote Prince as a prodigy... Bruno does not have/do:
-A mysterious sexuality about him -Multiple musical personalities (eg. Camille) -Edge (to push bounderies) -Produce and arragnge like a control freak
Naw, seems like someone who is heavily influenced from the greats that came before him. But for top 40 fluff he's tolerable. He has a likeable personality, and is easy to market. Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0

Bruno Mars is the new Prince Justin Timberlake is the new Michael Jackson Lady Gaga is the new Madonna Ciara is the new Janet Jackson Beyonce is the new Diana Ross Maxwell is the new Marvin Gaye :falloff: see how ridiculous that sounds? Legendary, iconic artists cannot be duplicated or replaced. There won't ever be a "new" Prince,a new Marvin,a new MJ,etc.Today's artists cannot fill those shoes. Any Bruno fan who considers him to be "the new Prince" is actually doing a disservice to Bruno. You're not giving him the chance to grow and become an amazing artist in his own right.

I've never heard this comparison outside the org and I don't understand it either... Most fans consider him a hybrid of MJ and other influences, but even Bruno says there will never be another Michael Jackson or create those masterpieces in popuplar music like Mike did... SO if the fans nor Peter are saying this, why is the org saying it? lol When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace -Jimi Hendrix

I haven't heard anyone besides the op in this thread say Bruno was another Prince. If anything, they call him a "mixture" of MJ, Elvis, James Brown and Little Richard. Not necessarily the "next" though.
Edited so people won't wonder what "JB" meant... [Edited 3/11/13 17:39pm]

Ludicrous.
Let Bruno Mars be Bruno Mars, please. I admit I liked his set on the Grammy's last year, but he is very far away from being Prince. He is *not* another Prince. There will never be another Prince. Prince came about before the video age, & the world has changed. It's not possible to do it the way he did it anymore.
