Thank U once again to Dave Grohl for saying it!! Was never a really big nirvana fan, and honestly not too big on the Foo Fighters, but i do have alot of respect for Dave Grohl, there really arent too many in rock over the last 15 years or so that i can give cred too that have come up, maybe Dave and pprobably Eddie Vedder and not much after that. But i recently got a chance to catch the "Sound City" film and also got to see the Concert here in NYC with the SOUNDCITY players, Dave Grohl basically allowed alot of artists that recorded there, get some exposure to "more of his audience" and to alot, people like Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and Rick Springfield, who all played at the show, they are not that known to this generation, but DAVE really allowed them to take over and be the show, and on top of that the Soundtrrack will feature new recordings.
Of course for me Rick Springfield on stage with Dave Grohl and his band was the highlight, though Rick has been a constant recording force still coming back in 1998 from a 10 year hiatus and also has been on tour pretty non stop doing about 100 + gigs a year, and i have seen RICK about 25 times in concert (second to Prince), but at the show Dave gavce it up for Rick telling him that "not only did they respect him for his work, but at 63 he rocks like a real rock star and is still a kid"!! PERFECT dead on statement Dave, that is why Rick is as fresh and cool as ever, hes 63, but hes not touring with laundry lists every summer, hes recording new music, playing it, its as edgy as anything out there now, and YOUNGER and full of angst like ROCK used to be.....
Heres a clip of Rick and Dave in LA doing the new track "The man that never was"

I also like the clip of "Jessie's Girl" and the song "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" w/Stevie Nicks

Sound City was a decent movie. I learned about the Nev board and what it was responsible for (soundwise) and the rest was equally entertaining. Dave Grohl is showing respect to the artists that influenced him. A lot of newer artists could take a page from this book but then who would we see? LOL

And Basically what happend with Rick would never happen again, he was recording there for free with no contract, he had been dropped by a few labels after his 1972 Hit "Speak to the Sky" no one would touch him, he recorded that 1980 album with Jessie's Girl was done at hours when no one wanted to record, basically 3am in the morning, he had to play almost all the instruments, and there was no charge, basically the studio wanted a cut of what he would make, turned out to be a GREAT deal for the studio and Rick. The Studio owner said Rick actually lived there, he fed him and bought his clothes, got him acting lessons AND let him record. That's some serious belief in an artist that would NEVER happen today...
