He's a highly skilled MC. The timing was always right. Biggie and Pac died (Biggie arguably put him over).
He had 4 consecuritve producers who were at their peak at the time he hired them -- Swizz, Kanye Just Blaze and Neptunes. He built his Roc-A-Fella/Roc-A-Wear brand before he really became a crossover success. Cue "Dangerously In Love" and that's it.
But lyrically, he tapped out years ago. He's still catchy and clever but the basic story never changed. MjC has a point, but all that being said, it's easy to see how he's popular.
I hear that. I can't really discuss Jay-Z at that level as I don't listen enought 2 know.
When I listen 2 it.....I get bored after about 2 songs.

I really think he should have stayed "retired" but can't knock the hustle.
He's been rapping about things he should have stopped rapping about 10 years ago.

Maybe it's been mentioned but I feel like this rant was spun into something that it wasn't. I don't think he was dissing the song Suit & Tie or even Justin, he was dissing businessmen in the music/art world and using the title Suit & Tie as an analogy to them.
Totally. People need to actually watch this freestyle, not read it or just the headline.
