Oran 'Juice' Jones - "The Rain" vs. Al B. Sure - "Nite & Day"

Two good 80's R&B songs, by two dudes that can't sing. Which did you like better though?

OJ wasn't trying to be a singer, Al B was. So OJ wins this battle.

I actually think that Oran 'Juice' Jones could sing boxed They just didn't know how to market him.One minute,he was a soulful balladeer, the next minute,he was playing a pimp/gangster role.He never found the right' image' that would give him longterm success.

in any case,I think "The Rain" is the best R&B song of 1986.One of my favorites music

"The Rain" is hilarious, but "Nite and Day" is a much better song. I've always liked Al. I wouldn't say he can't sing; he just has an unconventional (but effective) singing voice.

I listen to N&D much more often.

But The Rain is a much more memorable song.

Don't touch that coat.

I didn't catch that line initially! eek

Just off the top of my head, it's hard to put "The Rain" ahead of "Kiss" or "Nasty." I could even see a case being made for "Tender Love."

"The Rain" kills all of those songs lol It was a truly 'new' sound, and the spoken part is priceless.Everybody was trippin' off this song, back in the day.It definitely had that "it" factor. In my area,it dominated R&B radio in the summer of '86.

Is it any coincidence that "The Rain" was climbing up the charts the same week Prince recorded

"Bob George'?

"Bob George" is Prince's homage to "The Rain".

cool
