Lil Mama is making big moves. The “Lip Gloss” rapper has just landed a role as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in the upcoming TLC biopic for VH1.

MC Lyte revealed the news at the inaugural VIBE Impact Awards. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say, but I will,” Lyte told Hip Hollywood. “She just got the role as Left Eye in TLC’s new movie. I am so excited for her.”

The film is currently in pre-production, with the group’s two surviving members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, serving as consultants and executive producers.

The hip-hop pioneer plans to take the 23-year-old under her wing. “I’m gonna put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart, witty, and just had her chances cut too short, and that’s Lil Mama ’cause she is a talented young lady,” explained Lyte.

The two plan to hit the studio this weekend. “We’re working on a hip-hop sisters record,” she said. “I’ll be doing songs with her, with [Lady of] Rage. Monie [Love] will do a song with Yo-Yo. We’re gonna mix it up. It’s gonna be nice.”

The made-for-TV movie series will explore the Grammy-winning trio’s rise to fame with their 1991 debut Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip and 1994’s groundbreaking album CrazySexyCool, which sold more than 22 million albums worldwide and made them one of the most successful female groups of all time.

Fans will also relive darker moments from the group’s storied career including T-Boz’s battle with sickle-cell anemia, the ladies’ financial woes, Left Eye burning down her boyfriend’s home, and her tragic death in 2002

Why cant these producers just simply look for REAL up and coming actors and actresses???

i read on twitter there is already a petition 2 get this whore removed from he biopic, everybody on twitter talking much shit about that slut and nobody wants her in the movie

Raven has lost alot of weight and she is actually "skinny" now I think her weight now is actually alot smaller than Left Eye.

She favors left eye a little bit. Although I LOVE Raven, I still dont think she has the chops to play a role like this.

And yeah, I liked my ladies with some thickness to them. Her damn hair weave is bigger than her.

I first noticed it when she went on Wendy Williams to discuss her weightloss and was just shock with how skinny she got. The girl that played Ugly Betty got real skinny to... Im tired of all my fav actresses feeding into Hollywood it was refreshing to see some young talent represent real women.

Real women have curves and are not rails. I will always love Raven though She is one of the fewest realest girls in Hollywood.

And lets not forget about Elisabeth Taylor (a white woman) once played a black Ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra. And there is a on-going Hollywood rumor that they're considering having Angelina Jolie to play that same role in the remake of Cleopatra.

There was also Lou Diamond Phillips in La Bamba and Jason Scott Lee in The Bruce Lee Story.

You are right Latinos/as which should be the real defination to people from latin-american origin (and not hispanic since that is refering to people of Spain who are European- White), are not a race per say but they are an ethnicity and many have the same mixture of amerindian, black and white bloodlines.
