In 1982, both of these brothers were given projects from their label heads. Jermaine was the lone brother to stay at Motown and by the late 70s started to receive some success on his own. Marlon headed to CBS with his other brothers and by the late 70s, they too were back in stride like their early 70s' success.

The projects were on some lovely females, Betty Wright and Syreeta (Wright.)

Jermaine produced Syreeta's 1983 album "The Spell" and co-wrote some tunes.

Marlon produced Betty's 1983 LP, "Wright Back At You" and wrote most of the songs on the record.

Both albums did poorly on the charts, but they are much better then their numbers suggest. Jermaine would join Marlon and the other brothers later in the year for Motown 25 and the next year for the Victory LP and tour.

Man I love both of them and their producing and I remember liking Jermaine in the 80's so I have a soft spot for his r&b/funk stuff, but Marlon is a really good writer and I love what he did with janet and on the jacksons albums, and from what I'm hearing here, it's too funky to pass up!

I have to give it to a real Jackson this time don't blame it on the sunshine....

I wish Randy and Jackie were given projects to handle and take control over like Marlon and Jermaine had.

Tito had his own project in 1982 with Steven & Sterling.
