Todays Music

I never listen to todays music. In my opinion it has all become shit. I found some I like: Janelle Monae, Winehouse (pretty much it). I challenge everyone on this site to help me find good music in today's world.

To help, here are some people I like: Prince, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Frank Zappa, Duran Duran, P.Funk, Jimi Hendrix. I need help because I hate this depressing feeling that we will never hear quality music ever again...

To those who will say that my mind is made up and think I will just ignore suggestions are wrong. I am open-minded and will try out all suggestions.

Thanks to anyone who tries to help me biggrin .

er

How about some African music?
Especially stuff from Ethiopis is unlike anything you've ever heared. There's a series of compilation CDs called Ethiopiques which is a nice introduction.
And the Touareg may be making the headlines for all the wrong reasons right now, but Tinariwen are some pretty awesome guitarists.
And Fela Kuti should appeal to a funk fan.
But I share your feelings about today's pop music. I feel like everything has already been done, how any pop songs can one really hear before they all start sounding the same?

Nice suggestions! I liked Fela Kuti better than Tinariwen (although I liked their guitar work smile )

Check out KISHI BASHI from Japan, they do some very craftily made stuff that might mesh with the groups you mentioned.
