not a shocker and thanks again for looking it up. I hate to be a pest, but did you see if Clive talked about what was most likely the craziest moment of his career, when TLC stormed into a meeting he was having and briefly held him hostage with a gun as they demanded more of the profit from their CrazySexyCool album? Puffy ratted them out to the cops, if I remember correctly.

Sorry, I only looked through the book a few minutes. I can tell you he had a lot of good things to say about Ray Parker, Jr, Gamble & Huff and MJ.

I still think he's brave. True he's using it to sell books and probably not many people are going to care about an 80 year old man saying he's bisexual. He will probably still be treated the same by most because of who he is. But, there are thousands, if not millions, of 80 year old men who took their sexuality to the grave in fear of being ostrosized by their family and friends. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! I am not so sure. Many men like to handle their junk in public, but you don't often see that when they also have a bigger man with an arm around them from behind while pulling up to the bumper like that. The pose in that photograph could well be an expression of some subliminal desires they were not even aware of - yet. The mask is just the nastybeautifulsmoking cherry on top for some of us. No he isn't. The media picked up on it and are running with it. Im sure he just wrote his bio and wanted to tell all. "Climb in my fur."

that's how i feel | |

Yes, he wrote at length about Gil Scott. I haven't yet bought it , but Davis tells his life story with meticulous detail. It's 600 plus pages long.

What pages were you reading? Because Clive implied that MJ tried to sabotage Jermaines career His book is bullshit and like everyone has said he is just trying to make a dollar.

lol..she ^^^^ doesnt like it because MJ isnt painted in an angelic light "Climb in my fur."

Lol! I had a different interpretation. I actually like the book. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Was this after Word to The Badd? Hell, I might do the same thing if Jermaine wrote some BS about me. Jermaine wrote a dis record about his own brother. Not surprising because Jermaine has kids by another brother's woman, (but that's for another topic).

So everything Clives says is the gospel?
No Michael was not perfect but that does not mean everything reported or said about him is true.
Kelly already called his lying ass out. Clives old ass is trying to make a buck and to sell. He wants to exploit and lie about other factors being the fault of why certain artists on his label werent successful instead of taking responsibility himself.
Clive implied that MJ tried take Babyface away from Jermaine for his own projects.
Credits from Jermaines "You Said" album But here is the thing:
Babyface wrote, composed, arranged Jermaines ENTIRE album so Clives assertions are bullshit and there was no reason for Jermaine to feel Michael was taking Babyface away from him because Babyface worked on the entire project!
Clive is basing his perspectives on how Jermaine FELT during this period about Michael. Jermaine has ALWAYS been jealous of Michael.
Babyface also was interested in working with Michael and Jermaine took that (IN HIS MIND) as Michael TAKING Babyface away from him because Jermaine wanted Babyface all to himself and thats when he wrote Word to the Badd. Michael had every right to be angry about Word to the Badd because he didnt do anything to deserve that. They later talked it over and resolved it. But Jermaine should have talked to Michael first instead of assuming things.
This is not about Michael Jackson. I am just not a dumbass or a air head that is quick to believe every damn thing I hear so I am sorry for being intelligent and having the common sense to know that Clive Davis is exploiting some celebrities as well as fabricating stories in his book for money.

So you only read a few pages out the book and concluded that the entire book was credible?
Maybe Im wrong but I just read a post you made insisting you had only read a few pages.
Im not trying to pick on you but just trying to understand how you can like the entire book with just reading a few pages from it? [Edited 2/22/13 10:08am]

I only looked at a few pages of a 608-page book about specific artists, and yes that was enough for me to make an honest decision about whether someone should buy it or not. Like any book, it comes down to a question of taste. I happen to like it.

No it was before it because it was the reason why Jermaine made the song.
Clives story is not true although it can be entertaining for some who dont know the full story.
Jermaine wrote the song out of jealousy and frustration because he thought MJ was trying to take Babyface away from his project (trying to sabotage his career). Dont know why he would think that because Babyface wrote and produced Jermaines entire album.
It was a mixture of the Babyface fiasco and just Jermaines jealousy toward MJ that he had for years which is why he wrote that disrespectful song.
Michael forgave Jermaine after that and would for years pay for Jermaines babymamas and kids school education

Ok fair enough. I respect your opinion.
However, that does not really reflect the entire nature of the book or make it credible. (Now if you dont care about a book being credible and just want to read just to read then okay then) but alot of the controversy among the orgers here is in how credible/accurate the book is and I dont think you can conclude that on just reading a few pages from a 600 page book but thats my 2cents.
I cant sit here and say every single thing in the book is fabricated because I have not read the entire book either BUT some stories definitly are.
I am personally not a supporter of celebrities who fabricate and exploit stories on other celebrities especially decease celebrities (because they are no longer here to defend themselves or their side of the story) i.e. Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and to me it just shows how their just trying to make money and not really trying to portray the truth.
I believe Kelly Clarkson. Kelly does not publicly call out celebrities and I tremendously respect her for sticking up for herself and refuting claims Clive made in his book about her and her music.
Glad you enjoyed the few pages you read
I wouldnt buy the book even if I could get paid a million dollars.

Shame on Jermaine. *SMH* With family like that... Michael was a good soul, paying for those babymamas, & nieces and nephews of his.

Am I to conclude from your comments he's written nothing about Prince?!?

Michael very very sweet. His entire family sucked him dry up until he left this earth. Jermaine wrote a diss song and was living in the same house MJ was paying for.
Its funny how Clive did not mention how Jermaine had a very successful early solo career in the 1980's with two albums that went Gold and a handful of songs that made the Top 20 position on Billboard Top 20. Also, Clive failed to mention how MJ and Jermaine did projects together in the 80s despite being on two different labels. They did a song together "Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin" for Jermains album that peaked at number 6 on the Billboard charts Clive didnt mention that but noooooo instead the fabricated: MJ tried to sabotage Jermaines career Old ass liar. I have lost all respect for Clive Davis and it was messed up how he did Whitney.
I wouldnt recommend this book to nobody!

I don't know how brave it is for Clive Davis to come out of the closet just now, considering the industry he is in. He has held a good deal of power for many many years, and has had a BANK account for even more. Yeah, it can be more complex than that, perhaps, but I sense something other than bravery at play.
The girl in Tracy Chapman's Fast Car had some shit to be brave about. The L G B T youth of our world about to be homeless and without family support have something to be brave about.
