one i can think of at present is...
If u gonna make a fool of somebody~ but i cant remember who done it... JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

I made my first purchase of Sade music yesterday (Lover's Rock), and last night after watching a depressing movie, I drove home listening to it and felt like crying the whole time. Pretty moving stuff...

one that's got me right now is Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" that's out right now. it really devastates me. especially with the video, but the performance of it itself too.

I don't cry easily -- and I generally cry out of bliss or hopeful anticipation, not sadness. I know my songs don't make most people's lists, but some of the ones that have sucker punched me include:
* Prince: Power Fantastic, I Will, Scandalous Sex Suite parts II and III * MeShell Ndegeocello: Mary Magdelene, Grace * Patti LaBelle: If You Ask Me To * Al Jarreau: Something That you Said * Roberta Flack: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face * Joni Mitchell: A Song for Sharon, Little Green * XTC: Rook * k.d. lang: So It Shall Be * Pink Floyd: Any Colour You Like [This message was edited Sun Mar 9 8:49:47 PST 2003 by Lammastide] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

To add to your list, how about Carl Thomas's "I Wish", (since you've got Usher up there)...I always thought the issue of the song, about the man who's in love with a woman who has a family, but they still are in love with eachother on the d/l was touching...I liked it! So many by Bob Dylan that I can't take the time to name but a few...simple twist of fate, buckets of rain, million miles away, standing in the doorway. There are hundreds more. His lyrics are so moving, passionate and mature. He is a pure lyrical genius!!

Very true about Bob, I commend your great taste. One of his most moving performances is "You Belong To Me", on the "Natural Born Killers" soundtrack; simple acoustic strumming, THAT VOICE, cuts straight through the marrow. Beautiful, very touching, very sad.

I wish more people on this site had the same love and respect for Bob. He is a true genius and he sings each song from the bottom of his heart. Most people just say he doesn't have a good voice, but in reality his voice goes with the songs he writes and he always sings with more feeling than just about any other artist. I love his music and it never fails to cut me to the bone and tear at my heartstrings and bring real tears to my eyes. Long live Bob!!
