I would also like to say that Lil Mama as Left Eye is a fucking disgrace to her and her legacy. Left Eye was a talented rapper and Lil Mama is a one hit wonder who then later got famous on TV as a judge about dancers. TLC deserves a better biopic than this...

Techically, "Latina/Latino/Hispanic" are not races anyway. Just general terms that has many ethnicities.

You are right Latinos/as which should be the real defination to people from latin-american origin (and not hispanic since that is refering to people of Spain who are European- White), are not a race per say but they are an ethnicity and many have the same mixture of amerindian, black and white bloodlines.

Yeah, but on a form/application, it usually has 'Hispanic' as a choice, not 'Latino'. It might also say something like "White/Black - not of Hispanic origin". Some don't like either term and get offended by them. It's kinda like saying Asian, it doesn't really mean anything. You could say Russians are "Asian" since most of the Soviet Union is in Asia.

Sheila E is half though, her father is mexican and her mother is an african-american woman of creole heritage.

Left Eye isn't latina though, many believe so because she died in Honduras but also because her last name is Lopes (which is actually the portugese version of spanish Lopez) she's of cape verdean (an island outside of Africa) descent and has portuguese ancestry as well like most cape verdeans. (like Amber Rose, I know bad example but that's the only one I can think of).

Yes and it should be changed.. I wouldn't say that at all though, being latino is something that identifies most latin americans and a Russian person don't usually identify with being asian because there are so many different languages in Asia and also because their history is deeply rooted in Europe, while in Latin America the language that is spoken in most countries is spanish and they share a similar political, religious, cultural, ethnical group of people in most countries .

Asian is not a race though. A few years ago, there was a fuss about Chinese actresses Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li, and Michelle Yeoh playing Japanese characters in Memoirs Of A Geisha.

I see your point and I was not trying to imply that he was half asian lol . I was just trying to point out that, that is apart of his heritage. So casting him to play Bruce Lee was not completely off the mark.

Most sources label him half Chinese and Hawaiian lol

VH1 Announces Cast for TLC Biopic

February 20, 2013

Link

VH1 has found their crazy, sexy, and cool. The network has officially announced the roles of Left Eye, Chilli, and T-Boz in the upcoming TLC biopic Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story.

In the film, KeKe Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee) will portray Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Lil Mama (“America’s Best Dance Crew”) will take on the role of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Drew Sidora (Step Up, “The Game”) has been cast as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.

MC Lyte previously revealed that Lil Mama had landed the role of the late Left Eye. “I’m gonna put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart, witty, and just had her chances cut too short, and that’s Lil Mama ’cause she is a talented young lady,” said Lyte.

The full-length TV movie will explore the Grammy-winning trio’s rise to fame with their 1991 debut Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip and 1994’s groundbreaking album CrazySexyCool, which sold more than 22 million albums worldwide and made them one of the most successful female groups of all time.

Charles Stone III (Drumline, Paid in Full) will direct the biopic, which is penned by screenwriter Kate Lanier (Set It Off, Beauty Shop). The film is slated to begin production next month in Atlanta.

I tend to hate productions/casting of real life people when it comes to African-Americans

KeKe Palmer looks nothing like Chili

Lil Mama looks nothing like Left Eye

Drew Sidora looks nothing like T-Boz

There are so many actors/actress out there that can play the part as well as look the part

I remember back in the 1970's I believe they did tv movie on Adam Clayton Powell jr (who could pass for European) and they cast him with someone who looks like Sidney Poiter

A proper representation of a person outward look is just as important as their intellect, and inner person

There are a lot of actresses with Chili's ethnic look and her hair type, there are a lot of actresses with Left Eye & T-Boz ethnic look skin color etc, and I don't think it's asking to much to get someone to portray them correctly

When they cast(thought about casting Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone, it was the same, Zoe looks nothing like Nina, Zoe might look like Chili and she has the dance background, but nothing like Nina Simone. India Ari + Nina Simone would have been perfect and they wouldn't have to go thru changing India's ethnic look to fit her

Here's the cast that should've been in the biopic:

Eve as Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins

Raven-Symone as Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes

Keisha-Knight Pulliam as Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas

Their all pretty & look similar but too old & too rebust...TLC had a very youthful small built look. They always looked younger than what they we're. That is very important in the casting. Even though lil mama looks nothing like LeftEye.. I thought about it. She fits the wild child image she had. Also Ke Ke has that innocent look that Chilli use to have... The new girl Drew Sidora has a tomboyish look to her & fits TBoz. I think it will work! It better because I will critique every scene. I followed their career & was at every tour they did..
