Stevie Wonder - What to buy next? I need your advise guys.
I've just started listening to the music of Stevie Wonder after purchasing "Songs in the key of Life", which for the record I think is awesome! I've heard all the "hits" and now want to learn about how his music developed etc.. People recommend "Secret Life of Plants" but say it's a bit out there for newcomers. Can you help? --------------------------------------------------

Musically, Secret Life' is interesting, but if you buy the 70's albums preceding 'Songs In the Key Of Life', you'll emjoy the stuff that led up to it:
Talking Book 1972 Innervisions 1973 Music Of My Mind 1974 Fulfillingness' First Finale 1974 ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Iwould not suggest "Secret Life Of Plants" as a next purchase. As has been stated "Music Of My MInd" "Talking Book" "Innervisions" "Fulfillingness First Finale" as well as "Hotter Than July" I say get "Secret Life.." after those.

People aften dismiss 'Where I'm Coming From'. I always thought that's the first of the classic string of albums in the 70s.

I totally agree that these R the albums 2 get next. After that U should get Where I´m coming from from 1971.There U´ll find the beautiful I never dreamed U´d leave in summer. Then U should get Hotter than July from 1980. Journey through the secret life of plants from 1979 is beautiful 2. He did´nt do anything wrong in the 70´s. All masterpiaces. /peace manki

I half agree as it's half classic Stevie to me, just a little filler to be found. Beats anything he did in the 80s though (Hotter Than July aside), that decade saw such a blatant, sad decline compared to his 70s run. I actually think Jungle Fever and Conversation Peace showed some improvement, we await the next chapter...

Stevie's had hits, but let's not forget the single that started it all:
"Fingertips." That song's hot! Everybody say yeah!!!
