Toni Braxton: “I don’t feel the love for music anymore”

Toni Braxton Good Morning America TheLavaLizard

Toni Braxton shares a shocking revelation on ‘Good Morning America’.

If you’re a fan of R&B or just good music then what you’re about to read will probably devastate you. So, sit down, grab some tissue and get your best friend on the line to offer you some emotional support. Ladies and gentlemen, Toni Braxton has revealed that she is no longer interested in making music.

Following a short discussion regarding her health and upcoming ventures in film, Braxton broke the news to Good Morning America viewers that she has lost the passion to make music. She then attempted to soften the blow by claiming that her outlook may have resulted from a midlife crisis but it too late as I had already locked myself in the bathroom with “Un-break My Heart” on full volume as I wept under the shower.

She is immensely talented and to know that she might not return is a serious blow. This is what happens when labels flood the airwaves with garbage and refuse to make room for real talent to thrive!

Now, let us experience the five stages of grief together.

Denial

Anger

Bargaining

Depression

Acceptance

Thoughts?

I love Toni

Her legacy is set in stone,so whether she comes out with an album or not, its not going to matter.

I personally applaud her because my love for music would be lowered as well seeing how terrible the music industry is today and what you would have to compete with (Beyonce, Rihanna, Bieber, Nikki) TRASH.

If she wants to focus on other aspects of her life or try new things than good for her!

I still think she could have had some small success on R&B charts instead of competing in the pop ones.

i can feel where she coming from and i would lose my love 2 look how the industry treat her one of the great r&b talents yet no major sales. all the glory goes 2 these young chics now days and i wont call them untalented cuz 4 what some of em do they are ok. people complain about prince all the time but what suppose 2 inspire him?? music of today suck in the past he had michael jackson, madonna and a few 2 give him a competitive edge now its nothing

I always thought it would be cool too see someone like Toni, singing back up for Aretha Franklin or Nancy Wilson, that would still have to be an honor and and growing experience

It could help in how they view music as well, and might give them some insight into the next direction they take in music

i applaud her.

Too many people in this industry feel forced to pursue it as a career, when sometimes it's not meant for them.

Even Superstars...

Sometimes I think what if Michael Jackson abandoned music and actually became a veterinarian like he wanted. Probably would still be alive today, maybe even happy....

We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams...

I love her candor, and I could imagine that it might not have been an easy thing to acknowledge when she reached that realization.

I think this can be translated as "making new music isn't making me any money and I'm tired of performing my older songs" lol For the last decade, she has struggled to get a hit. Her "I Heart You" song last year only did well on the dance chart and at the clubs which is better than nothing, but if you're used to getting #1 hits on the r&b and pop charts, it's not enough. shrug I understand her frustration but I hope in the future she'll change her mind. Toni is 1 of my favorite vocalists because her voice is deep, distinct and controlled.

Unfortunately it's become increasingly difficult for real vocalists to have successful music careers in the r&b and pop worlds. Think about it-most of the "hot right now" stars are weak singers who need auto-tune and I'd be disgusted too if I were Toni. The other thing is obviously that she's well into her 40s and it's hard to stay on top in this business when you're over 35...

I do like that she's getting into acting though, and honestly I don't know what the rest of you think but I think she would be a good pick to play Aretha in that upcoming biopic. Certainly a better choice than Halle Berry lol

She's doing the right thing. Why keep making albums if you don't feel inspired anymore? She should take some time away, and come back to music when she truly feels that she has something to say.

It would have been nice to see her re-team with Babyface again, and concentrate on making a solid R&B album. Her best songs are the ones that she did with him, imo.

If she's sick and tired of the business and doesn't love making music for music's sake, then it is time for her to quit.

She only has like 3 songs I like so I won't be losing any sleep over this. lol

And most artists feel this way after they stop selling. Nobody has been checking for Toni since she decided to show off her tits at the Grammys. lol

I don't think she is that talented, so it is no big loss. She has a trifling attitude and methinks this also has to do the fact she is getting a bit too up there to be showing off her assets like she seems to love to do.

Rather than a humanitarian for people who didn't deserve it!

I love Toni and was wondering about her the other day, remembering buying her records in my teen years and liking some of her current underrated songs.

First and foremost I think Toni is depressed about her Health issues...My Late Aunt battled Lupus for a long time and lost the battle at the age of 34. Black women have Lupus at a Higher rate than any other race and most of the time they don't make it to 40. Toni can afford the Best Doctors and the Best Medicines so I'm praying she'll live a long life..

Her twitter messages are always up-beat so that's a Good thing...

We're talking about Toni Braxton not Lisa Fischer....And I'm not down-playing Lisa can that sista can Sang and go toe to toe with Whistle Note Legends Rachelle Ferrell & Mariah..

I've not been a particular fan of Toni's music since probably her second album, but it always makes me a bit sad to hear musicians say this sort of thing.

She's been through a lot with her divorce, her financial woes, her health. Surely that all has some bearing here. I hope she's able to wade through the turmoil and rekindle her passion again.

I didn't buy anymore of her albums after The Heat, but she had some good songs here and there, such as on Libra, which was highly underrated. And she was definitely rocking that red hair! It should have been a hit right up there with Mimi that year!

Yep, because you're working with a legend and it's not about you,

Toni's feelings are about how things have happened to her from her issues with LA Reid & Babyface to her health etc and not being able to probably hold a tour on her own etc.

To sing back up to Nancy Wilson Tony Bennett or someone like that would be more relaxed, (she still wants to sing and do music, you can't turn it off) it's all the other stuff that's in the way.
