Happy Birthday,J Dilla. More beloved in death than he was in life, there are few hip-hop alchemists this side of Premier and Dre who rival Mr. Yancey.
Gone too soon, in 2006, after releasing a stellar solo album, The Shining, and one of the great hip-hop records of the 21st century, Donuts.
In the years before that, he was ubiquitous on the hip-hop/R&B scene, providing sounds for Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest (as a member of the Ummah) and of course Slum Village. He continues to bless artists with his beats.
Today would have been his 39th birthday. Rest peacefully.
Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

One of the greatest hip-hop producers to ever walk this earth! It's such a shame he died so soon and without money, but we will always remember him!
