Okay so Im driving.... and just so happen to turn on the oldies station

and I don't know the name of the hosts because I dont listen to this particular station alot only when Im driving from time to time BUT this ignorant motherf!cker, said that Beyonce was better than Janet and that Janet could not feel her shoes. eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek He was raving about Beyonces Superbowl performance and his co host tried to defend Janet but the host kept trashing Janet ON THE RADIO eek eek eek eek eek

I nearly had a fit in that car.

I am so glad I was already parked because I couldnt believe what that host said. eek

After getting what I needed, I went back home and tried a MILLION TIMES to call that station but the line was busy.

I know yall are tired of the Beyonce topics I AM TO but that really disturbed me. eek

I think what makes it even more sad is the man sounded like he was AT LEAST over 40 (but then again who really knows).

THIS ASS KISSING HAS GOTTEN OUT OF CONTROL NOW eek

Like they really think she is better than these ICONS and LEGENDS that were creative, innovative and had 10x the talent she does eek

He was really dissing Janet to the point that it was just disrespectful eek

People really believe that boring ass mess was better than Prince, Mjs and Janet halftime?????

People must be desperate to watch something or the standards must have just gotten REALLLLLLLLY low.... like BOTTOM OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN LOW.

I couldnt get over that host tried to demean Janets talents and accomplishments like she was NOTHING.... and dude even had the audacity to say she could NOT feel BEYONCES SHOES AND then he had the nerve to say Beyonce could danced BUT TRASHED JANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a f-ing lie

I am so glad I didnt get through because I probably would have ending up cussing him out, thats how piss off I was confused

People make it seem like TINA TURNER, JAMES BROWN. I DUNNO MICHAEL FUCKIN JACKSON, JACKIE WILSON NEVER EXISTED and make it seem like she doesnt copy Tina Turner, doesnt have mediocre music and mediocre dancing

Its ONE thing to say... yes I think she did a good job... its another to say it was the greatest of all time rolleyes... but it is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS and KRAZY AS HELL TO SAY BEYONCE IS BETTER THAN JANET and Janet cant feel HER shoes.. eek

Beyonce couldnt fill Janets shoes... WITH OR WITHOUT HEELS

Im just tired of the bs and I know everybody is tired of the Beyonce threads AND I AM TO but I just really needed to vent

People on the radio these days don't know their head from their ass, even on the oldies stations too. One morning, there were two DJs, a male and a female, and they had just finished playing Robert Palmer's "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On". The lady DJ said "He's not the one that originally recorded the song, a female recorded it first but I can't think of her name.". The male DJ said "I think it was Whitney Houston." and the female DJ said "Yeah, that's the one.". First of all, if they knew anything about music, it's "Shitney", not "Whitney" and a tired ass like her could never record a song that good. evillol Another DJ played "Le Freak" by Chic and pronounced it as "Chick". These dumbasses on radio these days are just as stupid as the folks that make music these days. lol

Your RIGHT.

I just didnt like how disrespectful he was. You can say your opinion without being disrespectful and demeaning. He was stanning and was not being objective.

Whether one likes Janet or not, fact is, she has paved the way for alot of these female entertainers today and they model from her in some degree.

Beyonce has taken ALOT from JANET and other female performers.

There wouldnt be a Beyonce without acts like Janet, Tina and Diana Ross etc so its absurd to imply that Beyonce is more accomplished when she has not contributed anything to music or dance.

Now if he had said, I prefer Beyonce over Janet thats a bit different from just straight up trashing her and demeaning her accomplishments.

Don't worry about it. Even Beyonce can recall who inspired her growing up. At least a few ago she could....

This says it all. Beyonce is at heart a thief and a mimic in almost all ways.

Even her Superbowl costume was a rip off of a Tina Turner outfit. She is allergic to originality, which is a shame because I think she has an incredibly powerful presence and a strong voice.

Which is why I said in another thread she could be easily duplicated because she doesnt bring anything original or unique to the industry.

I just think having talent alone does not mean you deserve to be called the greatest especially when its not original... but thats just my 2cents.

Its ALOT MORE to Prince, Madonna, MJ, Janet with why their are ICONs BESIDES being a good performers.

There not Icons because their JUST good performers, ya know? Its MORE to why they are the status they are.

People forget that sometimes when they hype Beyonce up.

HAPPYPERSON

someone on another board yesterday made an interesting comment

She's just not a creative person.

She's a great popstar, but she's not a musician, a creative person. People talk about the lack of personality in what she does, but it's obvious to me why there's none there, it's not about her. It's about putting on a great show and doing a great video, but she's not lost in it. This to her is a business. She's good at what she does, but it's not about being a musician or expressing anything, it's about being good at it.

Madonna is nothing compared to her in terms of singing and dancing and isn't even as beautiful as Beyonce, but Madonna is an artist. She uses her music and performances to express something. She totally changed the game, she was hated by many people because of many of the things she said and did, she never played it safe. But she's now an archetype of modern music. In 50 years time people will still compare all new female musicians to Madonna, I don't even think that can be questioned. It's like Marilyn Monroe or James Dean.

But it's true though, in this mess of Lady Gaga's and Rihanna's and Katy Perry's and Justin Bieber's, who else is there? Someone who is just really good at this job is hard to come by.

Because the people who pour their guts into this business and make it about them always end up paying a price and getting messed up by it. But I would rather watch them sing and dance than the others.

it was in response to this article

This past Sunday, Beyonce put on one of the greatest Super Bowl halftime performances of all time. For 12 exhausting minutes, Queen Bey entertained like I’ve never seen anyone entertain before.

It would be criminal to just state that she sung and danced her ass off; the performance was so much more than that: there were flashy lights, explosions, these insane aerobic dances, giant Beyonce faces and Beyonce duplicates. There was even an appearance from the two Destiny’s Child members that didn't become homeless, Kelly and Michelle.

I enjoyed the show and treated it like a big budget summer movie: a fun, special effects-ridden spectacle that starts to show its flaws the harder you think about it.

Because, while Beyonce's Super Bowl performance might have cemented her legacy as the greatest entertainer we have in music right now — and, quite possibly, of all time — the performance might have also confirmed that she doesn't have the songs to match her mighty status.

She's a musical icon who doesn’t make iconic music.

It's stunning when you think about it. There's not a current artist in music with her skill set: She sings and dances better than everyone else in her field, and it’s not very close.

However, when we talk Beyonce, we have to talk legacy. We’re not comparing her to the Rihannas and Lady Gagas of the pop world. She’s passed that. In a sense she’s Thor — a God amongst mortals.

So we compare her to the icons: the Whitneys, the Princes and the Michaels.

And if you hold Bey by those standards, like we should, she falls short.

During the Super Bowl halftime show you are given 15 minutes, give or take, to cram the cream of the crop of your catalogue into your performance. In 1993, probably the first year when these halftime shows started to get good, Michael Jackson performed "Billie Jean" and "We Are The World." Years later, when Diana Ross hit the stage, she performed "I Will Survive." When it was Prince’s turn, he killed by performing "Purple Rain" — In the actual rain.

Here’s the lineup Bey hit us with on Sunday: “Love on Top,” “Crazy in Love,” “End of Time,” “Baby Boy,” “Bootylicious,” “Independent Women (Part 1)” (which are both Destiny’s Child songs), “Single Ladies” and “Halo.”

All good songs, in some cases great songs when you compare it to what was released that respective year, but when you look in a historical sense, these tracks don’t hold up.

And for that reason, I get somewhat disappointed when I think about Bey's career
(disappointed — which is perceived as hate by you Beyford Wives out there who defend Bey like a lioness defends its wounded cub.)

Bey is not the only one I feel somewhat frustrated by. In the acting realm I look at someone like Will Smith, who turns down Django Unchained so he could get Men in Black 15 green-lit.

I'll give you this, Bey heads, I think she's trying harder than Will is. While on B'Day and I Am... Sasha Fierce Bey was slaving away to the radio, 4, her latest album, saw her take risks I’ve never seen before.

Not too many, though.

Because, remember, she’s Beyonce and part of being Beyonce is being perfect, leaving little room for failure, which a lot time leaves little room for risks.

Beyonce is the most beloved artist this side of Michael Jackson. So I’m going to get scorched for this blog.

That’s fine.

For Bey Stans out there, I'll say this: let’s hear em. What are the iconic songs Bey has? The classic, iconic albums? Can we put Dangerously in Love with the Purple Rains and Thrillers of the world?

Honestly, it sounded ridiculous just typing it out.

Just buzzin' in my Beyhive, ladies @Milkman__Dead

That was a interestesting article and thanks for posting!

I disagree with the MJ comparision though. MJ is the most bashed artist of all time lol I dont know why that commentor wrote he was beloved. Beyonce will never be MJ status and will never have to go through the same things he has because she will never be on that level likewise with Madonna/Prince.

The article pretty much summarizes my feelings on her.

Shes a descent performer but she is not an artist and becauses she is a descent performer she gets overrated for things that she doesnt deserve i.e. grammys, chart hits, MUSIC awards, anything music related etc. I even think she is overrated as a performer to although she is alot better than Rihanna, Bieber etc but that doesnt mean she is one of the GREATEST lol people just go to far with her.

People keep bringing up looks alot to when they discusses Beyonce like that makes her better. I dont see what that has to do with being a good performer and being a good artist.

People liked MJ, Prince, Madonna etc because they were GOOD artists/entertainers not because of how they looked or how good they performed (specifically) like it is with Beyonce.

I rather be hated on because of my individuality than be liked because of how pretty I was and how well I could shake my behind shrug

A decade later , Beyonce has not changed her act or grown as an artist because the industry/people has not asked her to be authentic or to express herself.

If she has gotten away with it for over a decade and people/industry seems to not care, why would she have a reason to stop if its giving her millons?

People can think she is a good performer and all that bullshit razz . Fine

but

DONT COMPARE HER TO MJ, PRINCE, MADONNA and so forth because they were not JUST performers and it waters down THEIR legacy.

DONT sit up here and make it seem like shes makes original, authentic, creative music.... when she doesnt neutral

DONT call her an artist / songwriter when she isnt.

I wouldnt mine her as much if they didnt COMPARE HER TO MJ, MADONNA AND PRINCE mad

Yeah it's just one person's opinion. Nothing to get worked up about...I know you were probably even more mad at the host not giving credit to Janet but how do you deal with the next king of pop comments if you nearly had a fit with THIS. lol

@ the article Happy posted.

Although I don't have a problem with people just trying to do the best with only what they have, as a fan I would really love to see her push herself and evolve as an artist. She's in her 30's and a mother now. Her biggest problem is that she tries too hard to be a people-pleaser that she's never taken seriously as an artist. She even said in an interview that she's not even a huge fan of songs like Single Ladies or Diva, but she wants to do those type of songs just so that she can give what the fans expect to hear from her.

I think the lyrics and subject matter is the first thing she can really tackle and start working on more carefully. As far as playing instruments is concerned, Bee doesn't have to all of a sudden pull Madonna and grab an instrument and start fooling around with it just for the sake of trying new things or being seen as a musician. I believe she has strong enough voice to just sit down and spill her heart out and still be considered an artist IF she had the right lyrics to sing.

And THIS, is just too much falloff falloff falloff x 10000000000000000

Beyonce is definitely a people pleaser. Plus she's in that "if it's not broke, don't fix it" thing. As long as it was catchy, she'd release it. As for the original post, that's HIS opinion. It shouldn't affect anyone who don't see things our way.

That's really the main thing I don't like about her the praise she gets don't match lol other than that she's whatever to me and some songs I do like but I don't stan for her.
