Every time I think I'm bored of Courtney, she sucks me right back in again.

Personally, I think it's a tad ludicrous that people are upset about her using the "N" word in this cover. Is the word in the actual song? yes Well, then she's simply covering a song, right? So if you have a problem with the word being used, take it up with Jay-Z.

Also, I find it hypocritical to get all bent out of shape about that word being used by a (gasp) white woman, yet it's not an issue for a man to call a woman a bitch.

(By the way, RDHull, I am not at all aiming these comments towards you .. just at a lot of the comments I've read online).

As for Courtney, yeah she's a nutcase. But she's also brilliant and released an album that I related to more than almost any other during my college days (Live Through This). Plus Celebrity Skin was killer in its own way, and almost everything she's released since has one or two songs that tug at my soul. (On the last Hole album, it was "How Dirty Girls Get Clean," damn that's a true-to-life theme song for anyone who has ever been through hell and back).

I really hope her upcoming solo album is more reminiscent of the last Hole album than of "America's Sweetheart," which I really wanted to love, but just couldn't.

Courtney's one of those musicians who does the most wonderfully unexpected covers - "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Season of the Witch," and now "99 Problems."

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected.

I dont think she/it's racist at all. She's keeping the sneitments of the song and it wouldnt be the same of she didnt. Hell, when Tori redid Eminems Bonnie n Clyde, it brought out the content of the song better than Eminems crazy posturing did..it lmost works the same way her regarding Jay-Z ..almost, but its close.

Love is a bad ass. True artist. She may be a mess "at times" but she is a genuine mess if that makes any sense. And she always brings it all back together.

So weird she's being brought up.

I just ran a recording session with her & her band hole last tuesday and wednesday.

Despite the crazy shit said about her.

She's a sweetheart...

Can't sing for shit...

But really who can these days.

While I certainly wouldn't argue that Courtney has a technically "pretty" voice or whatever you would call it, to me she has one of the best voices in rock and roll (note I said "rock and roll"). For the type of music she sings, it's kind of perfect: raw, honest, ravaged and yeah, fucking beautiful.
