I like it! judging by the bg vocals

I can tell I'll grow to love the studio version

it's different.. but not a bad different

I must admit it was nostalgic & refreshing

to see this new smaller Chaka

do her classic scooting moves during the choreography

it almost felt like the 70's for a minute!

she looks fucking great!!!

I admit.. at first listen I was laughing my ass off

but I'm just glad she coming back

and can grow to love this!

bring on the album damnit!!!

thx 4 posting!

shouldn't she be beyond expecting any head nods from younger audience and except the fact that her body of work speaks for itself?

Nah, its not a smart move. I mean hell, it won't sell ANYWAY regardless to whom she's catering to, she might as well do what she has always been wanting to do but couldn't while she was in a "major label".

I agree here sis..

but in a way this "new Chaka"

feels like a reinvention of sorts

she's still doing it 40 years later

and she still has the pipes

she survived every decade, per se

she feels pressured I guess to see if

she still has it on all aspects..

I'm sure it was her team

and I'm sure she had to be talked into it LOL

(i.e. the 80s-IFeel4U, the90s-TheWomanIAm-ComeToMyHouse, the00s-FunkThis)

on a joking note

I think Chaka had a lil sip

before she hit the stage

it's that drunken "live chaka voice"

I adore so much (much like on A Night In London '85)

I like how she just casually refers to herself as iconic. lol

I know several of you Orgers are members of Chaka's message board. Could someone please contact CK's board administrator/webmaster and inform he/she that the confirmation email that is supposed to be sent out to newly registered members to activate their accounts are not being sent out? Locking out new fans (and old ones like myself who haven't posted in a while) is not a good PR move. Especially at a time when new music is being released.

[Edited 3/6/13 14:39pm]

Is there any way you can send an email to the webmaster or her sister Tammy? I recall someone mentioning this very problem on her board a few days and I believe they said after an email to the webmaster or Tammy, they were able to get back on to the board.

I don't have an email address for Tammy. The emails I sent to Chaka and the webmaster have bounced back as undeliverable. I just sent a message via the "Contact Chaka" page on her site. Hopefully that'll get delivered.

The Highly-Anticipated CD The iKhan Project: Alive!

The Commemorative Edition Hits Stores July 2

(Los Angeles, CA – March 14, 2013) – Chaka Khan Enterprises and Management announces today the release of Billboard magazine’s Stars Tribute issue, dated March 23, to coincide with the music icon’s 60th birthday and the 40th anniversary of her career in music and entertainment. The issue hits newsstands on March 16 and is the first issue published by Billboard magazine that features Augmented Reality—bringing print to life. Printergize is a new and creative way of linking traditional print media with your online marketing efforts. Simply launch the Printergize app, scan the target object and watch the content come to life. Printergize utilizes mobile technologies to interact with consumers in a unique and engaging way. “Chaka has always been an innovator as an artist,” says Tammy McCrary of Chaka Khan Management. “In today’s market, it is just as important to be innovative technologically. This is why we chose to partner with Printergize.”

The cutting edge mobile app will go directly to www.chakakhan.com, where Chaka’s Billboard magazine cover image will come to life through the Augmented Reality app. At that moment, you will see Chaka introduce her 100 Days of Chaka campaign, which marks the 100 days from her birthday (March 23) to the anniversary of the release of her first recorded album with Rufus, Rufus (July 1, 1973) 40 years ago. This timeline will highlight daily, a series of historic moments in Chaka’s career, mixed with celebratory current events. The 100 Days of Chaka culminates with the release of The iKhan Project: Alive! The Commemorative Edition, in stores July 2.

Chaka’s 40th anniversary will include the release of a series of music projects recorded in eight genres including R&B, pop, jazz, gospel, rock, country, classical and dance. The first installment of The iKhan Project: Alive!, which will include a CD and DVD, will be recorded live at the legendary Henson Studios in Los Angeles, where Chaka is one of a few artists in residence that has a recording studio on site. The iKhan Project: Alive! will be recorded the same way Chaka recorded her first album. “I want to experience the magic I felt 40 years ago when I recorded my first record,” says Chaka. “The thrill of recording with all the musicians in one room, the interaction with the producer and the spontaneous moments of the experience.”

The music icon will celebrate her 60th birthday with three exclusive events held in Los Angeles (March 21), Miami (March 23) and New York (March 26). “I’m excited and looking forward to celebrating my 60th birthday in all the cities I love,” says Chaka. “I will also have a rare opportunity to spend time with my old and new friends, business associates and family. I am especially happy about my Billboard Tribute issue; this is the first time in my career that I have been honored in this way.”

The 40th anniversary will also include the release of her jazz project, The iKhan Project: Jazz, produced by GRAMMY® award-winning producer Robert Glasper. The album will be released this year on Bluenote Records. During the year-long celebration, Chaka will launch the I’m Every Woman World tour; produce her own television specials; release an updated version of her memoir, Through The Fire; relaunch her website, www.chakakhan.com; relaunch her signature gourmet chocolates, Chakalates and launch her Khana Sutra candles, as well as other exciting surprises.

Her new single, “It’s Not Over,” featuring GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist LeCrae, is available on iTunes and all other digital retailers. Produced by Theron “Neffu” Feemster, “It’s Not Over” includes an urban version and the Papercha$er pop dance remix.

Earlier this month, Chaka was honored at the Rock Art Love Ball, benefitting the Homeless World Cup, held in New York City. Other honorees included Carlos Slim Helu, Lee Daniels, Mel Young, Miri Ben-Ari and Nancy Lublin. On April 19, she will be honored by the Howard Theatre Restoration Gala and Benefit Concert in Washington, DC, along with Dionne Warwick, and Valerie Simpson. The Howard Theatre will also pay tribute to Etta James and the International Sweethearts of Rhythm. Chaka will also perform at the Keep Memory Alive Gala celebrating the 80th birthdays of Quincy Jones and Sir Michael Caine in Las Vegas in April.

Since this is a big year for Chaka, there should be a Rufus and Chaka Khan box set containing all of their albums, fully remastered with bonus tracks! Their rich catalog has been neglected for far too long.

I can see why a Chaka purist would hate it, cuz it's such an obvious pander - especially the Papercha$er remix. But I think it's pretty good for the treadmill. smile

I think it's a great photo. Other than her voice, Chaka is known for her fiery red mane. I think it captures her very essence.

Now that photo that was used for her Jet magazine cover a few weeks ago was atoricious. The photoshop chop-job looked as if it were done by a 5 year old. I can't believe that was released.

I don't think that's ever gonna happen. Sure would be nice to have the quad versions of "Rags To Rufus" and "Rufusized" on CD.

FTG is trying to get license for some Warner Brother titles so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some expanded editions of her solo albums will appear, especially "What Cha Gonna Go for Me" and "C.K", both of which have B-side non-album tracks that have never been released on CD.
