Space jam soundtrack--great, but too adult for a kiddie film? Jay-z, r Kelly, ll cool j, busts rhymes, changing faces, salt n pepa, d'angelo...
That's a lot of adult acts! [Edited 1/26/13 14:49pm]

Uh, no...lol all the tracks fit the theme of the soundtrack. Definitely not "too adult". Besides it was for those who had left kindergarten anyways.

Hmm... I don't see no cursing... yes it's some subtle sexiness but other than that, it's not so graphic that it shouldn't have been included so again, not too adult.

I'm not saying it was a hardcore cd, just that if the target of the film was kids and pre-teens, this was a definitely targeting over 18. Not too many 12 year olds back in '96 was appreciating this cd Still a great grown folks cd

^ Well of course not but the three tracks released ("I Believe I Can Fly", "For You I Will" and "Come Ride It" or whatever the title was) helped to get through all ages.

I agree that the album had grown acts on it BUT this isn't true. Here in New York kids (Urban area) were listening to things we had no business listening to We were jamming to Next Too Close and you know that song wasn't good for us to listen to. This soundtrack was beyond popular with kids, Everybody loved R. Kelly back then I was in elementary when this came out and it's my favorite soundtrack period. [Edited 1/26/13 17:33pm]

Heh and I was listening to Prince and watching Purple Rain at three, four years old and kinda knew what was going on. That's why this soundtrack wasn't much ado to worry about from the kids who bought it or had their parents purchase it for them.

I don't know how many kids got the joke when, as they were talking about whether white guys could play basketball or not, Bill Murray said, "Larry Bird isn't white. He's clear", but I certainly fell out of my chair laughing at that!

Brings back childhood memories and I still love that soundtrack ! I think most young kids, just dig the overall sound - they don't care much about the lyrical content. That's why spice girl and all those other shitty late 90s groups sold their music to 5-10 year old kids. lol... Still a great grown folks cd Not true. I was in grade 8 during this movie and a lot of us in our 7-8 class including myself had the soundtrack and loved the singles. Hit em high was popular and our class did a basketball routine to space jam. We all listened to the likes of r.Kelly, Monica and salt n pepa as well. I guess you could say I went to an urban school then too, I agree with the previous comments about listening to lyrical content we didn't get. High school peers had more diverse taste overall though: industrial, boy bands, crossover r&b and hip hop, teen pop and electronic crashed the rap Vs. alternative divide then I think [Edited 1/29/13 10:56am]
