Little Richard-Dancing All Around the World

I don't know if this is a great song but I love the way that it sounds. It's so heavy, it almost sounds to me like proto heavy metal.

Little Richard is the great grandfather of heavy metal!!!

lol seriously!

The fast paced playing, his screams and the i don't give a fuck attitude are metal as hell.

Even death metal owes a ton to Richard.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

The founder of Deep Purple, Jon Lord, claimed "there wouldn't have been a Deep Purple if there hadn't been a Little Richard". I'm guessing he meant by singing cover songs of Richard's during their early years.

Anyway his voice definitely predated heavy metal voices.

I liked this song. Dont know much about Little Richard's work, but intend too. Was he the most interesting artist among the founders of rock n roll? For me, absolutely. Maybe just tied with Roy Orbison. Elvis was good (but not in all periods of his carreer), but he is waaaaaaaaaaaay too overrated.

If you are new to Little Richard I recommend this. It has just about all of his fifties recordings. Some of the early tracks are tame compared to what would come later but I think this is the easiest way to acquire the bulk of his "classic" material.

This is probably the best single disc collection of his Vee Jay recordings.

After that things get pretty patchy but some of his material for Okeh is worth hearing.

Make sure to google the song "I Don't Know What You've Got But It's Got Me". That's probably one of the greatest soul songs of all time...

Thank you both for the wonderful tips. I won't be able to go through this cds right now, but, soon as I can, I will. Im listening/learning to other artists right now. But I'll take note. LR is definately a artist from my list of the ones I wanna get to know well.

Beautiful ballad. Happy to see it is from 65 (or 66 to wikipedia). Means Richard was also among the ones who initiated soul music. Another landmark from the period comes to mind: Its a man's man's world, one of my favorite songs of all time.
