It's a song Ray Charles recorded. I almost fell off the bed when I saw Jamie but he nailed it.

I didn't care for Jennifer's singing.

Also to add:

Jen singed an Al Green song.... once again... dont see why Al Green could not have sung his own song but Oh well I guess they pick popular artists regardless whether the song they are singing is theres or not... seems a bit tacky.

Jennifer Hudson ruined "Let's Stay Together". Her rendition was a epic failure. All that damn shouting. "Let's Stay Together" is a smooth and mellow song that does not call for all that loud singing. Why didn't they get Al Green to sing his own song?

I liked it because it was fun and she wasnt taking herself to seriously but I agree.

I dont see why Al Green could not have sung his own song, weird. Im sure the Obamas had some control over that. For some reason they just diss these old legends just to be "politically correct". Its unexcusable why these legendary black singers are not asked to sing their own songs by the "first" black president. I find it to be very disrespectful.

I just don't understand why they don't get people to sing their own songs. I don't know if Mr Green gave his blessing for Jennifer to scream his song, if he did, fine. But having someone sing a song by someone else when that person is still alive seems a bit disrespectful and tacky to me. I'm glad Etta got pissed off 4 years ago.

Etta even made a public statement expressing that Obama did not ask her and how she felt dissed. I am sure Al Green felt the same way when he watched it.

In a statement to The Associated Press, his representative said Green had been asked to sing, but scheduling conflicts prevented him from attending Monday's festivities. Green said he'd be honored to sing for the president in the future.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Obama famously sang a snippet of the song at an event last year that Green attended.

Still does not change the fact that Etta James was not asked and if that was the case, they should have change the song since Al Green could not sing it.

The funny thing is that they barely showed Jamie at all when he was singing-at least they didn't on CNN.
