I saw BIIM in concert almost 15 years ago. Now, I could see them and 98 Degrees still doing shows together after this upcoming tour

This is when they attempted to change their image, like when New Edition got Johnny Gill. I remember this album not doing too well, and then they broke up. It's interesting that Donnie is in a show with "Magnum PI" now. Tom Selleck was popular in the 1980's too. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Definitely had an edgier urban feel. The slow songs on there are still some of my favorites

You mean their main audience, teen girls, probably didn't relate. I think going to a more 'hard' image (aka Dirty Dawg) wasn't going to appeal to them. The audience they were trying to attract wasn't going to buy it, as they were already seen as soft pop. It's like around the same time Debbie Gibson came out with a sexy image with the Body Mind Soul album, when she was clean cut before. It didn't work for her either. I guess it's similar to when The Osmonds made a hard rock record (Crazy Horses) back in the 1970's. Some people don't want their favorites to change too much, or at least not all of a sudden. Some folks didn't like when The Beatles changed to more psychedelic music. They wanted the "Yeah Yeah Yeah" mop tops of the early records. But in the Fabs case, they didn't lose too much of their audience and gained other people like stoners and hippies. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just amazed at the following they still have after all of these years. No diss to them as a group or anything. I know they sold LOTS of albums, but to find fans that follow groups like this is rare. They have done successful cruises and continue to sell concert tickets. That's a good thing.

I wonder if they are going to do it as a show where there is no "headliner" like they did with BSB. They all sang each other's songs and everything on that tour. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

At that point it was more that boybands weren't exactly popular anymore in the US. Their teen/kid audience was growing up and for groups like them, being away for over a year is like a lifetime for a 12 year old who just moves on. Europe had replaced them with their own versions and they weren't urban enough to compete with the new crop of R&B groups.
I didn't give a shit about NKOTB in 1994 but adored them in 1990-91. I only bought Face The Music during a freak nostalgia trip around 1999 after finding it in a used CD store and was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it.

I stan for New Kids but I reallly need for them to sit down somewhere. I hate what they are becoming they are looking so desperate these days (especially on the view the other day) It was fun back in 08 but now that's enough I'm aware that many older acts still tour but it's just I wanted to remember them a certain way they are just overstaying their welcome I feel (for a boyband really). And lmao at 98 coming on after BIIM. Are they serious? I love BIIM too but I never liked them as a threesome. This lineup is weak to me.

Ok cool. I thought I read there are only 2 members left (out of four).

If you don't like the New Kids, why waste money on their concert at all? You can see Boyz II Men at their solo show in Vegas. Some people just have to be negative for no reason at all. because nkotb was created to give r&b groups a hard time. racist record company exec started creating acts like vanilia ice, backstreet boys and this group to shit on black vocal groups who can sing them under the table. i personally saw the hammer, vanila ice tour and i'm glad hammer destroyed him. now i get a chance to see boys 2 man put this clown act out of business. i can't wait.

New Kids were started by a black man, Maurice Starr, the same guy who got New Edition a record deal. NKOTB's first album flopped, so how were they taking over for black groups? Everything is not some big conspiracy by "The Man" like most of your posts claim. If a record company really wanted to give black groups a hard time, they don't have to give them a record deal in the first place or spend money promoting them. It's not the fault of a record company if a white group sells more than a black group. They only put the product out there. The public buys it. I imagine that if you go to Africa, the average black group sells more than a white group, and if you go to China, a Chinese singer will sell more than a white group or a black one, and so on. correction they are able to outsell black groups because racist record company execs use profits that comes in from sales from black music and use it to promote white pop groups to the hilt. do you honestly believe this man discovered nkotb? when was the last time you heard that a black man was behind the success of a big white singing group? maurice star is a fall guy for this group.

They're singing about a girl who goes from a geek to a sex goddess, in that term, she's remixing herself. Get it?

It's a joke. Anyway, I'm not one of those people who sit around analyzing lyrics. If I do that, I'll think The Beatles white album is about a race war or that certain Beatle songs are about Paul dying in a car wreck. Well it's no need to cry for Boyz II Men anytime soon. They have a deal with the Mirage hotel in Vegas for 78 shows from march 1st throughout the year with tickets starting at $40. They won't be doing state fairs this year. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

honestly I don't like how Boyz II Men is now a 3some...Michael McCray is missed, as this group was all about the voices and harmonies. To me, it's like En Vogue-you need all the original members of the successful version (I know there was a 5th guy way back who left before they made it big so he doesn't matter) of a group to get my interest.
Also, it doesn't need to be said, that I think Boyz II Men shouldn't have to tour with NKOTB and 98 Degrees I mean the other 2 groups can carry a tune but Boyz II Men are leagues better in talent and song catalogue.

Why do you say they look desperate? They are not that old. Is early 4os old?? Really?? There are many acts way older than them that still record and perform. NKOTB still sells out venues. Why should they stop?? Why are people so against anyone over 30 still doing what they love? I will never understand this. If we're lucky, we will all grow older. Should we just roll over and die after 30??
