MLK Jr. Festival - Gibson Amphitheatre - Jan.19th
You know going in that Klymaxx is not the band you've heard on the recordings (the WAR syndrome), that Jeffery Osborne will not be with L.T.D. and what "version" am I getting with the rest of these groups.
The band really sounded good especially their female drummer Crystal Martin. While trying to locate some video clips on Crystal, come to find out there's another "S.O.S. Band" being booked led by guitarist Bruno Speight. The group with Mary Davis has "The Real SOS Band" as their FB page.
Again the band sounded very good but the only person identified from the classic recordings was drummer James "Diamond" Williams.

Nice review.
The band’s flamboyant lead singer hip thrusted and gyrated his way through a funky 40 minute set of tunes
He said there were two other "original" members along with Diamond.

LOL. I don't know if that's a pronoun mixup or what. Of course everyone knows Klymaxx is all women.
I did note your comment about Cameo having 3 original members so I will suggest he change that bit in the review. I think he was talking to people in the audience but should have verified that before saying it.

He also said Cameo was Larry Blackmon and a backup band. It looks like Cameo was the only band there with at least 75% of the band actually playing on or co-writing the hit records. [Edited 1/22/13 16:16pm]
