Watching Natasha Bedingfield murder "Groove Is in the Heart" on VH1's recent "Divas" concert only made me miss the deee-litefully groovy, deee-liteful DEEE-LITE. Even Bootsy couldn't save Bedingfield's horrible rendition.

What prevents Deee-Lite from being reunited, or at least having Lady Miss Kier Kirby herself sing the song herself as a "diva"? The band, despite Towa Tei's departure, had lots of potential - and it is too bad their record label didn't support them more. You'd think they could have signed with a new label or, at least in this day and age, released downloads. Looking at some of the dance sensations we've had in recent years (like LMFAO and Psy), not to mention the Black-Eyed Peas, you would think Deee-Lite would have been able to carry on.

If you are ever REALLY bored, do a simple Google and open pages with interviews post break-up. The finances were a M-E-S-S, there were a lot of strings, plenty of controversy about drugs and relationship drama. Towa has said repeatedly that it will never happen.

DJ Ani still plays out often as Ani Quinn (he is active on facebook and soundcloud, some pretty brilliant tracks there for free). Tei is a pretty prominent producer abroad. Dimitri has children.

LMK is at www.ladykier.com still causin' it. Follow her on Facebook, she often references her time with Deee-Lite and she still has plenty to say. She has teased for YEARS that new material will happen, so long that my fingers are basically fused crossed. I love her to death but getting to understand her a little better it becomes pretty clear they will never reunite and that if she were to put out a solo album it would be mega indie. The major game really seems to have scarred her but she is not "done". She has been doing sporadic "Deee-Lite Tribute" shows lately and released a George Clinton cover track last year.

Cherish those albums and the wealth of bootlegs, mash-ups, and reinventions that they have inspired. Have you heard Hollertronix remix "Groove Is In The Heart"? Pretty slammin'. There was also a pretty wicked remix of "Who Was That?" floating around the internets that was true to the original.

Dewdrops In The Garden changed my life.

Groove is in the heart is a good song 60's /70's flow with 90s rap. Thats a masterpiece

Such an underrated band. All 3 albums are gems. ^jeidee is right-on with reccomendations and I'll toss in the extended version of "Thank You Everyday" and their SNL performance. Love and miss them.

Great group! Lady Miss Kier was a fashion and beauty trendsetter. Everyone was wearing those wide headbands like she did, and flips in their hair.
