Aretha Franklin and The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are among the many stars featured in Muscle Shoals, a new documentary about the music that emerged from the famous recording studios located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The movie, which premieres January 26 at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, delves into the story behind the town's FAME Recording Studios and its rival Muscle Shoals Sound Studio.

Between the two facilities, an impressive number of classic soul, R&B and rock songs were produced, including Franklin's "Do Right Woman," Wilson Pickett's "Mustang Sally," Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman," The Stones' "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses," The Staple Singers' "I'll Take You There," Paul Simon's "Loves Me Like a Rock," Bob Seger's "Night Moves" and Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody."

In addition to conversations with Franklin, Jagger and Richards, the movie includes interviews with such other stars as Sledge, Gregg Allman, Steve Winwood, U2's Bono and the late Etta James, as well as FAME Studios founder Rick Hall and a variety of Muscle Shoal session musicians.

The film also boasts archival footage and new live performances, including a scene of Alicia Keys delivering a rendition of a tune Dylan originally recorded in Muscle Shoals that was shot specially for the documentary.
