En Vogue: Star Spangled Banner - what do you guys think? I played this for my mother recently and she said they sounded terrible.
P.S: Do you think some people may not like this because of a generational thing?

OP, I do think it's a generational thing. Here are 2 quotes I've heard

Wow I have never saw this....I LOVE IT! EnVouge....well I'm just in awe when I hear them....They are most definately one of my favorites because ALL of them could sing! I miss them so much. I would prefer this over the original anyday. "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

Technically, there is no special way to perform it, since it was a poem that was later set to the music of another song. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I remember this. Also remeber when they did this at a baseball game (I think playoffs or world series.... cant remember but it was in 1996 or 1997) when Max has the really short finger wave hair. lol.
But to answer the question, I don't see anything wrong with it. Its not Whitney at 1991 Superbowl or anything, but I like the twist they did on this one.
