I bought hot buttered soul lp and to be continued lp from the goodwill about two months ago and I really liked everything on these vintage recordings.

I was listening to the full version of Do Your Thing today.

Him and his fellow Stax players played their asses off on it.

By the way, the barkays were his fellow stax players that played their asses off especially on hot buttered soul lp and to be continued lp. It's all over the credits.

I knew the barkays backed him up on the shaft soundtrack but I believe he
had a few other musicians on it as well. I have the Black Moses album too
but haven't listened in a long time. I always have fond memories of the shaft
album. I would always play my dad's shaft album after he went to work. It
used to be my favorite album to listen too as a kid.

I dont like the song "Shaft". I heard it again during the unsung and never cared enough to check for the album. are there any great songs on the rest of the shaft soundtrack? because the songs on hot buttered soul lp and to be continued lp has a hold on me especially since Ive gone through some of those experiences mentioned in running out of fools, our day will come, and by the time I get to phoenix.

Yes there are good tunes on it. The majority are instrumentals but finely crafted

tunes nevertheless. I believe Shaft, Do Your Thing, and Soulville are the only

tracks with vocals but there are some good instrumentals like Ellie's Love Theme,

Shaft's Cab Ride which is criminally just over a minute, Cafe Regio, Be Yourself,

No Name Bar, and Bumpy's Blues.
