How to Destroy Angels New EP, An Omen (Thread II)
Originally posted on September 21, 2012
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has announced that his group How to Destroy Angels has cut a deal with Columbia Records for a series of new releases beginning this fall.
The first project under the new partnership will be a six-song EP called An Omen, due November 13 in both digital and 12-inch vinyl formats.
Although no further details were announced, in an open letter on his Facebook page, Reznor says of the group, "We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that's all the details I have for now on those matters."
How to Destroy Angels features Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig, as well as Atticus Ross, who worked with Reznor on the soundtracks for the movies The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Also in the lineup is graphic designer Rob Sheridan who worked on many Nine Inch Nails projects.
The new EP follows up the group's 2010 self-titled debut EP, and Ross' and Reznor's 2011 Oscar win for their Social Network score.

I really like the new EP. It has that claustrophobic feel to it which I enjoy. Ice Age is an obvious standout and shines a light on Mariqueens vocals which I think the other tracks and the tracks from the debut EP failed to do. The two remixes for "Keep It Together" which were posted on the previous thread were given away on a promo 12inch vinyl with initial pre-orders from their site which was a nice touch. I noticed one or two copies predictably selling for silly money on ebay, but the Mp3's can still be freely downloaded from here http://soundcloud.com/how...htda-misc/ No cd with this release, just digital download (in a variety of formats) and 12inch vinyl. I'm a lot more interested to hear the full length album now, and of course, look forward to seeing how they present this in a live setting.

"Ice Age" is very powerful in its subtly. The vocals and instrumentation have a flawless hand-in-glove fit. | |
