Loose Ends or Soul II Soul?

Tight one, but I am going to give it to Soul II Soul

Its a matter of preference, its not one thing.

I thought their production was a little tighter than Soul's and they were tad funkier. Carl, Jane, and Steve had such a presence, video loved them -easy charisma, they could sing, and they could dance. I'm a Big fan of Jane Eugene . I'm sorry those guys (as always) allowed ego and bullshit to get in the way of their music as a group.

Loose Ends."Hangin On A String" and "Slow Down" are great songs.

I actually only like one song by Soul II Soul,"Keep On Moving".

So I guess "Back To Life" didn't do it for you either?

I never made the connection myself, but now that you've mentioned it I totally see what you mean! Loose Ends is my favorite too.

Not dissing Soul II Soul though, they had some great tunes as well.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Nice to see Loose Ends getting some love. Soul II Soul were great, too, though -- the songwriting, the production, the positive vibe. One of my most favouritest favourites. cool

I loved their second album when it came out - and it's still one that stands up when I spin it today.

Loose Ends! More cohesive output, more hits and a light, tight sound all their own. S2S always seemed 2 try 2 hard 2 redefine the genre in my opinion and it only worked for a couple of songs, while Loose Ends had a more everlasting impact on Old School R&B. smile

Loose Ends were mysterious and funky. I dont know if it was the way their songs were arranged or the keys they played in..or the heavy use of 808 machine but they had the JAMS

Loose Ends for me.

Stay A Little While Child, You Can't Stop The Rain, Hanging On A String, Slow Down... sounded so good music . I loved their vocals, production, visuals, everything. cool

An Unsung on them would be nice.

I love Soul II Soul but Loose Ends easily get this vote

their catalogue was always solid as opposed to Soul II Soul's whos releases were a bit hit & miss for me.

Also I cant stress the impact that Loose Ends had on putting UK R&B on the map & paving the way for other UK acts.
