^It is nice and quite refreshing to see an artist act their age and embrace the wisdom of their years.

I have to believe that Bowie.org would be a much more erudite and serene site than Prince.org. And with better overall taste than what you usually get for discussion in the Music:Non-_____ forum.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of the new Bowie song, though I'm generally a huge fan of the man and his music.

Prince too. Even (especially) he 2004+ stuff, which probably makes me a philistine of some sort on both counts.

There are several Bowie forums. His Fans are not smarter than Prince's.

Between those who like the old David Bowie from the 70s and think his music has becone pretentious and self-indulgent and those who love everything he does, the discussions can be very harsh.

BTW I read he does not want to tour after next release and that he wants to be back in the studio later this year for another release. That comes directly from Tony Visconti. he thinsk he has done the Tour thing for more than thirty years and that he is sick of it.

His current band is close to the one that surrounded him since Outside. That's great news.

Prince can't help but notice the widespread attention/praise that Bowie's return has received. The outpouring of love has been remarkable. I wonder if it might spur him to try a little harder with his next project to reach a wider audience. He's got a competitive streak, to say the least.

It would be great if Prince had a competitive streak again, but I just don't think he's interested anymore."Rock & Roll Love Affair" is a lazy, forgettable track. It feels like he's just going through the motions these days, when he makes new music.

I think you're probably right about his competitive streak, and you're certainly right about the lameness of R&R Affair. I'm just hoping that he snaps out of it. But not optimistic.
