I think she was a fine example of someone with a very average voice who was successful because of catchy lyrics and even a great song here and there. Like this for example (my favorite):

She was an average singer with average looks who sung catchy songs produced by her famous husband. Basically sums it up. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. | |

I have to admit, I loved her "girlie" anthems though. I still blast "Mercedes Boy" and "Girlfriend" in my car with my shades on looking cute, driving at the speed of light.

That's what killed her career (if you asked me). Musically anyway.
Also, she didn't really have any marketable skills other than her looks. I honestly feel that is why MCA said forget it and didn't push the 3rd album. Can someone help me out on this one? It says in her Wiki bio that she was married to George Smith (lead singer of Con Funk Shun). Help me here. I don't remember seeing a George Smith on their Unsung episode.

I actually had a slight preference for the songs she did with Charlie Wilson (not these particular mixes. these were the only ones posted on youtube). Too bad he didn't produce an entire album on her.

I liked his work on this album also. I think the album would have been a hit without LA and Face. "Take Your Time" and "Do Me Right" are excellent. Don't even mention "Mercedes Boy." **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
