I didn't like the remix for this, I liked the regular version.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I always liked Bruce's version better (mostly for the lyrics).

This is on the wiki page about the song. I like what Natalie has to say about recording it:

In the mid-1980s Natalie Cole recorded "Pink Cadillac" at the suggestion of producer Dennis Lambert; Cole recalls: "I thought to myself, 'I'm too old to be doing this kind of stuff'" "but then I'd never worked with anyone quite like Dennis before. He was very passionate about his work [and] his enthusiasm gave me the confidence that I could pull [the song] off." The track was intended for an album release on the Modern label; that project was canceled and Cole's "Pink Cadillac" and another Lambert production: "I Live For Your Love", were picked up by EMI-Manhattan Records to appear on Cole's 1987 album Everlasting. "Pink Cadillac" was released as that album's third single in March 1988, returning Cole to the Top Ten for the first time since 1978 in April 1988 to ascend to a #5 peak - matching Cole's previous Pop chart best with "I've Got Love on My Mind" - that May. Cole's "Pink Cadillac" also reached #9 R&B, #16 A/C and - via a remix by David Cole and Robert Clivilles - #1 on Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. According to Cole, "word got back" to her that Bruce Springsteen "thought it was very cool that a woman could [sing "Pink Cadillac"] and it would come out so great".[11]

I think that the remix saves this song. The album version sounds bland but the remix takes the song to new heights.

It was nice seeing Natalie Cole making a strong comeback with this song. This was her biggest hit in years.

4 sure. This song put her back on the mainstream radar.

I liked both of her EMI albums. "Jumpstart My Heart" was another favorite.

Exactly! I love the remix but I hate the hell out of the original which is not only bland, but pop sounding.

That's probably my favorite of her entire career. It's gotta be the 12 Inch version though with the funky breakdowns and car starting sounds....

I prefer this over, "Pink Cadillac".

I like so-called "bland" songs and pop. Remember, I made threads about Lawrence Welk and Up With People. biggrin I don't consider the original mix of Pink Cadillac bland, though. It's fun pop like Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. There used to be a local radio station that only played remixes and long versions of songs. Whenever Pink Cadillac, Good Thing by Fine Young Cannibals, Take My Breath Away by Berlin, and that late 1980's remix of Phil Collins In The Air Tonight came on, I'd turn the station. lol

I remember hearing or reading an interview with her when she was asked why she abandoned R&B/Pop in favor of Jazz? She said she was performing in concert and had just got finish singing "Pink Cadillac" and realized how much she hated that song. lol

The song is ok, decent.

The remix is horrible. Sounds like the beginnings of the bullshit house/dance/electro music (though not as bad as the dance shit in the 90s/2000s....)

Too bad she overlooks her Capital catalog now. I really get upset when she won't even acknowledge her classics (that still get played). UGH! The jazz/standard stuff is good, but I want some "Our Love" and "I'm Catching Hell" mixed in!!
