Overall, i think Beautiful is a very good album. A few of the songs could have been fleshed out a little more(lyrics and music) but as it stands, Teena went out like the legend she is. I don't think they'll ever be another Teena Marie...ever !

Bought it a few days ago and finally listened to it today at the studio.

This album is mediocre for Teena Marie.

I want to say it's awesome and hot and funky and brilliant cause she was a goddess and no longer with us...but it's not.

But that's OK cause she left an amazing body of work and she will forever be LEGENDARY.

The only stand outs so far (hoping that will change after a few more listens) for me "Rare Breed" & "Wild Horses" (but I just can't count that one since it's not new). "Luv Letter" is nice also.

I've given the disc about 10 listens so far, and I absolutley love it! I can't pick a favorite but I do really love "Sweet Tooth" and "Count The Ways" and "Rare Breed" and of course "Luv Letter". I'm also glad that the lyrics are included too. Her last few releases didn't have them and I like to read and sing along until I memorize them.

What an appropriate title for this CD! I absolutely LOVE every second of it! This is the best album out of the last 4 she released. It kinda surprised me because I really wasn't expecting to like every single song on the disc but I do! Teena has left us one hell of a gift! This one will be in rotation for a loooong time!

I finally grabbed it today. I'm still haven't absorbed the whole disc but i'm loving

Luv Letter and the title track. I have to listen to these bonus cuts too.

Luv Letter, Beautiful, Sweet Tooth, Maria Bonita, The Perfect Feeling, When Smokey Sings... All Brilliant. Wild Horses, too. I like the way she reworked it. I would have liked to have had 1999, Butterflies and Blackberri Player from Black Rain on this over, say. Defintiton of Down, Long Play and Carte Blance. Also something from the gospel recordings she spoke of. Could a been a grammy.

When I first saw that song on the tracklisting, I thought it was going to be a remake of that 80's song, which I think was called "When Smokey Sings". Can't remember who the artist was but I'm glad Teena's was an original.

Received my copy today as well. A fitting farewell from a true legend, though "Sapphire" still holds a soft spot for me. But I've only played it twice so far, so who knows...

Just got my copy in from the mail today as well. Haven't listened to it yet though. I'll be sliding it in by the end of this weekend and check it out!

Lovergirl is such a great track.

I've found a method to appreciate and base an opinion on new music is to listen to it when you are doing everyday tasks. Cleaning or driving are great ways to naturally get into the groove of a song. Mindless activity and then it hits you!

No one here is carrying it, and it only seems to be available from American mom-and-pop stores who don't ship out of country.
