I've never heard this album other than a couple of songs, but I don't know how it's related to DP. Digable Planets music was probably too jazzy and afrocentric for pop radio at least, especially their 2nd album Blowout Comb. Songs like these are not likely Billboard type hit singles. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. There were also the Boogiemonsters, who were on the same label as DP. But I don't think they caught on. Most of their songs might have been too out there for radio play.
