Graham Central Station Anthology: The Jam What are your thoughts on this 2 CD set? I think it's great. I wanted to pick up the original GCS albums, but they're so hard to find that I just decided to pick this up. There's a couple of good songs that are missing, like "I Believe in You" for example, but this is a well put together anthology, IMO. Full album versions that really showed how GCS freakin' rocked back in the day!
I know Larry Graham isn't the most popular guy in the world these days, but his work in the 70s and his influence on funk music can't be denied. What do you think?

I love Graham Central Station and this is indeed a very good anthology.
I think the one disc Warner Brothers version would suffice as a jumping off for most people on this site.

I'm going to have to buy this Anthology anyway
because I have yet to see ANYWHERE the GCS album "Mirror" anywhere on cd.. ("Entrow" is TOO DAMN FUNKY!) From what I remember about the track listing, this anthology has most of the GCS essentials, but like I did with Earth Wind & Fire, The Isley Brothers & several others.. I ended up buying most of the catalogue anyway because these anthologies usually omit some really good songs, or songs that I like myself but weren't released as singles or whatever. Then, what jtgillia said about Larry's influence is exactly correct & on point. I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS.. | |

Does anybody have the Mirror and Now Do Ya Wanta Dance albums, and where the hell can I find them???!!! Now Do Ya Wanta Dance sounds like the perfect album to look for right now (a seamless flow of tight funk) but the damn thing is impossible to find. And it's gotta be on CD too, because I'm from generation Y!
mp3s are welcome too...
