I love this song! In my opinion,this is Jam and Lewis' greatest production.

you simply put "[youtube]" before the link (ipROh46BbQY&) and then write "[/youtube]" after the link

I couldn't pick an absolute favorite, but it is definately in my top 5 J&L productions!

I really like Robert Palmer's version too:

Always thought this song sounded like a girly 1999, like a response. I prefer 1999 though it's still an infectious beat.

J & L's best work from the early 80's was with SOS Band

Great song! Every version of it still grooves to this day.

Yep, I'll proudly take Palmer's version over Cherelle's any day. Great song either way, though. I prefer his original mix over the remix posted earlier:

I think it is great that the perspective changes, as Robert is obviously a man and not a female like Cherrelle. A man singing these lyrics is even cooler IMO.

I also like the way Robert does those harmonies with his singing. I just dig the way he takes the song and makes it his own. And it still is a funky tune in his hands, although it is that typical "white" (for lack of a better word) Robert Palmer kind of funk.

Must have been nice to remake a song with the original producers.....

Mariah was still in good voice here. Great energy. As with most older songs redone with modern technology, her song sounds bigger, louder. It doesn't necessarily make it better (imho).

This is probably one of the best uptempo dance joints in her catalog. I don't think she has many.

I agree.I never liked Robert Palmer's version at all.The lyrics sound silly coming from a man.It's obvious that the lyrics were intended for a woman to sing

I don't like Mariah's version,either.The Cherelle version is only version I need.

What's up with the gender stereotypes? What makes something "feminine" or "masculine"? Those things are taught.

love the Cherrelle and Robert's versions.

Did Mariah's version use the same backing tracks as Cherrelle's or did Jam and Lewis re-play it? They sound pretty identical to me.

I can't tell you, I'm afraid. I don't dare to play it, I am too worried that the song will be completely ruined by "The Diva"!

No it's really good. The whole glitter album is good. There's a Rick James song on it and Mariah does a good job with it

On your recommandation I have now viewed the Mariah version, and indeed, it is not bad at all. The backing tracks sound like 95% the same to me as in Cherrelle's version. I am glad they didn't try to update the sounds for this version.
