I'm a big fan all the ones listed plus the two I added except Barbra and Diana. Mariah definetly has the complete complete diva package as far as I'm concerned. She's got the voice, the clothes, the attitude, and she buys crazy expensive stuff for no reason lol

People use the word Diva so loosely now and days.

These artists ARE Divas: It takes alot more than popularity to be a Diva.

Aretha Franklin

Barbara Streisand

Diana Ross

Donna Summer

Madonna

Cher

Celine

Patti

Janet Jackson

Whitney Houston

Chaka Khan

edit: Mariah

and I will come back and do my list for each one later razz

Hey someone had to be ironic, so I threw in Latoya, I don't think I would put her in my top 100 artists though

yes, i love the pop diva's. as i call them mostly.. hehe

Madonna is my no. 1!

but i love them all really. but i think i prefer male/bands more, if i make a top 20 favorite artists, it will be mostly (male) bands.

but Madonna is my no. 1 and she is a pop diva so.. and my second favorite female artist, and also in my top 20 favorite artists... Kylie Minogue!!

love almost all of them. especially the ''newer'' ones too. like P!nk, Shakira, Gaga, Marina & The Diamonds (bit unknown but still), Robyn (same as Marina, but all pop music), Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey... etc.

and oldies ofcourse Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Cher, Tina, Janet...etc

but i don't like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Barbara Streisand etc. neutral

I always thought that the term "diva" meant something negative. I used to see it describing women (and sometimes men) who were difficult to work with like Bette Davis or Joan Crawford. So I don't see how it's related to just someone being a singer, unless the singer is self-important.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I always thought that, too, but then I looked it up online, and 'diva' is defined as a female pop singer.

Diva is a loosely based term that has two different meanings: diva meaning prima donna bitch and diva meaning powerful and sassy female singer.

I'm personally getting tired of many of the "divas" and only listen to Chaka, Aretha, Phyllis, Whitney and Diana in terms of the "divas". Stopped listening to the others mentioned recently. Listen to Donna on occasion though.

I used to ask everyone if they actually knew what it meant too after pop up video defined it a mere two decades ago lol but it's still a fun topic for what it is wink
