I know you guys like to take the piss out of him on the Org but I think he's talented and underrated. Why isn't he still recording and holding down the Jackson name/reputation for great artistry?? He should be out there still making music. What's the story with him these days??

He recently put out some standards with French opera singer David Serero. I'm not sure there is a physical version though, I think it's only a download, so I don't have it.

Jermaine has also done a few songs that only came out in India in the last few years. They weren't solo songs but duets with singers over there.

Here's an interview with Donnie Simpson, circa 1986. The sound quality is not good though, lots of noise.

I've only heard his 1980 album Jermaine.. it was pretty good. I also really liked the leaked(?) song "The First Time You Love" as well.. was it ever officially released?

you're absolutely right..Jermaine should have and would have been making music the entire time...

he would have made stellar music w/consistent output

but see, his career was sabotaged after 1991.....and that has been the problem the entire time

I wonder what happened to that Sly Stone album and the other group Jermaine mentioned in the Donnie interview. I guess Crazay by Jesse Johnson hadn't been released yet when it was filmed.

Thanks for the info. I knew nothing about this. I'll check it out but I doubt it's my cup of tea. I wanna hear the funkier Jermaine. I may have to keep checking out his older music.

Like This Is It? I was in the audience when he and Sonu Nigaam premiered it for IIFA.

If you like Jermaine's funkier side, Let's Get Serious and Let Me Tickle Your Fancy aside, it's hard to identify another standout album from the '77 to '84 period... they all have gems. The Big Brother Jermaine compilation that was released a few years ago is a great one to look at for that period.

Well I'm still getting to know the Tickle your fancy album and I think next i'll download You Said. I guess that's the one that put his career to a screeching hault, due to Word to the badd. Anybody dig this album from him?? I know it's scandalous.

Originally, the US version of the album only had the other version of Word To The Badd. The Japanese CD had both versions and a remix of You Said. Left Eye from TLC was one of the writers of Word, and T Boz sings background on it. All 3 members of TLC is on background on another song called Rebel (With A Cause). This was before TLC had anything released themselves. So there was nothing really scandalous about it if you had the US album. There's a song on the album called Treat You Right, which is a duet with Babyface and background vocals by Color Me Badd. The album is more New Jack Swing than straight funk though.

I remember seeing this album on cd, around the 90's (early 90's to be exact). Then, it disappeared off the market.

So I downloaded You Said and it's cool. Seems to be more New Jack Swing but at least it's mostly uptempo. I don't have the orginal version of Word to the badd. Boy, I would imagine that song must have pissed a lot of MJ fans off. I'll checkout that interview later. Thanks for posting.
