Am I the only one who thought this story was unnecessary? I would have rather seen a 2 hour Unsung episode. The episode was decent, though. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

No you aren't which is why I didn't waste time watching it. There's been so many documentaries done on Marvin's life, especially in his later years examining the whole murder situation. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

if its such a complete waste of time, then why is Sheila E interviewed on this documentary?

I didn't get the point of this episode either- especailly given the premise of the show.

again, Sheila E was interviewed during this documentary and that says a lot. This is probably the first Marvin Gaye documentary that she has ever done because I had never seen her in any of the other Marvin Gaye documentaries and I didnt know that she was the drummer for the entire Midnight Love tour....his last tour....no one hasnt answered this question yet. If this is such a complete waste of time, then why was Sheila E interviewed during this documentary?

The premise of the show was to document the murders of notable celebrities in the black community. I'm thinking the reason why Sheila was on this one then others was because when it came to Marvin documentaries in the past, no one approached her. It was nice seeing Janie Bradford adding her two cents too and more from Larkin Arnold. I think the Marvin tour was partially the reason Prince immediately picked her up as a musician six years after they first met.

I don't think it was bad, but I think it was a story we had heard before. And Sheila was probably interviewed the same time they were working on her Unsung episode. I'm a tv producer- when we work on multiple projects, that involve the same people, we get numerous sots (sound on tape) for packages.
I don't feel like I learned much of anything from this episode that the Divided Soul biography didn't tell me. And I knew Sheila was his drummer, as she was for Lionel Richie. This was also the time that Sheila's brother gave up Nicole Richie to Lionel and Breanda to raise.
