Aretha Franklin will begin work on a new album in early 2013. She has enlisted the help of renowned producer Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds.

The Queen of Soul revealed the news about the new album in an interview with Detroit television channel WDIV-TV.

Franklin explained: "I'm working on a new album, Babyface is producing it. I'm just working on things we're going to be doing." The 70-year-old singer will head into the studio to start work on the LP after the holidays have wrapped up.

Franklin was being interviewed as she hosted a Christmas party at the Greektown International Banquet Center in downtown Detroit. The new album will be the first from Franklin since joining Clive Davis' J Records.

Hopefully.

Face productions sometimes sound over produced.

I'd love her to work with Ray Saadiq.

I think Face aims to reclaim his musical legacy. If ever there's a time R & B needed a producer/songwriter of his caliber, it is now.

Well they have worked together before so I'm sure Face and Ree are familiar with each other. I just hope Face don't give her some lame stuff. lol

Wow! ImPRESSIVE! Personally, I liked her song with Jam & Lewis from "So Damn Happy" in 2003 ("Everybody's Somebody's Fool,") but they're probably tied up with other obligations. Sad tho cuz they were an AWESOME mix (The Queen and Flyte Tyme!) smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

In addition to Aretha Franklin, Babyface is also producing Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and did work on Alicia Keys' latest album.

Franklin is chosing material in cahoots with Clive Davis for this new album.

Hopefully we will hear some magical stuff and not attempts at a soon to be 71 year old woman competing with Rihanna or Taylor Swift.

^^Is that the guy who worked on an album with Duran Duran? I've seen the name somewhere before.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
