^ That's why I hardly listen to dancehall anymore. Glad that came and went as far as its popularity here in the states.

In Canada some of those artists were blocked at the border. hah!

Yeah I read about that and good. nod They don't deserve to spread their junk anywhere else but their own. lol

jay-z is not hip hop? what world do you live in?

Jay Z is a mainstream rapper and that does not make him the poster child for Hip Hop, sorry NO. Maybe it does to people from the different persuasion but anybody that knows hip hop knows whatsup

Regardless of the case,

One person does not reflect the thinking of an ENTIRE community and personally I dont consider him to be hip hop in its truest sense, so no.

Jim Jones REALLY got on my nerves in that clip.

Just shut up and go back to your on-again-off-again engagement to Ms. Ratchethead.

spit I've never seen his appeal, or why he is even popular in the first place.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He had what, one decent record (his first) that's like a blip on the radar now.

I notice he and Ms. Ratchethead are MIA on the new season of "Love and Hip Hop", to be replaced by Joe Budden, which is cool because he's kinda foine!

hmmm They've completely changed the cast. Wow. I have to say, based on this trailer, I'm not really interested in seeing this season.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They would've been better off just following Somaya, showing how hard it is for an up and comer to try and make it in hip hop with little money or (in some cases) common sense.

Last I heard the producers weren't interested in her come up, from the struggling Tequila and shoe lines, to her new relationship with successful producer Swift and the album they were producing. She seemed to have a lot going on and it might have been as boring as the producers expected, but it WAS a life, which was more then I could say for Erika, Kimbella and Chrissy.

But I do hear Somaya and Joe Budden are exes so she might be on this season.

It hasn't changed, and neither has the fanbase. Nicki isn't considered true hip hop, Jay-Z can say whatever he wants, Kanye got "gay fished" on South Park, and Frank Ocean is a fuckin' singer from an offensive crew. This does not make gay people feel any better than before about listening to hip hop or attending hip hop events (unless it never bothered them in the first place).

By far the most homophobic genre is Dancehall. Many anthems about killing explicitly gay or feminine individuals, how they would be killed, making a fun dance hook out of it, and they are hits, and no one apologizes. I find it actually frightening, and I love hip hop.

Yeah, fair enough some artists speak against homosexuality, but some go too far about killing and torturing the chi chi man.

Having said that I do enjoy this tune:

Well those artists you mentioned isnt really a true reflection of Hip Hop, ya know? So it is not accurate to say that Hip Hop is more open to the gay community just because a few mainstream rappers spoke out on it.

Everything these celebrities say has a reason behind it. There not just saying it just to say it, 9 times out of 10.

You have to think about motives and thoughts as Lauryn Hill would say.

Jay Z is buddy buddy with Obama lol and is more than likely going to say things that are in his good graces or that models what Obama is trying to push. ( Jayz isnt hip hop nor does he represent the Hip Hop community and he says things that benefit him in this case his friendship with the president) Nikki has a gay following because of her image more than anything, Frank Ocean I cant really say because he really is not gay but bi sexual.

All I am saying is the mainsteam scene doesnt really depict what Hip Hop is really thinking and it doesnt speak for other rappers or MC's.

Well even with that said. Jay-Z has been huge in Hip-Hop and is still a huge brand name. So him saying that still had some impact wink

And it does suck some of my favorite Hip-Hop artists like Mos Def, Busta Rhymes, Masta Ace & Grandmaster Flash. Have all pretty much admited to being homophobic.

I will be honest i don't listen to the music. Cause i try to seperate the music from the men... another one that made me go DAMN was the singer for one of my favorite rock bands W.A.S.P. Has an interview saying how homosexuals are taking over the world & if a homosexual is killed he would feel no sorrow confused

Well His a brand name in RAP music but I wouldnt say hip hop because its more of a culture and its a culture that he does not live and does not make in his music. I AGREE with your point I just wouldnt say he has a impact on hip hop which is different from rap music.

I still disagree with him being the spokeperson for an entire community and I also disagree with his comments having a MAJOR impact. I dont recall anybody talking about his comments longer than a day or it having intense news coverage lol but hey thats my 2cents razz

If his comments were that big of a deal, it would have gotten that treatment along with other rappers and MC's commenting on it. I would say Frank Ocean's coming out had a more bigger impact than Jay Z's comments because alot of other artists OUTSIDE of the rap world commented on it and was affected by it. When you have people like Stevie Wonder and award academys talking about your sexuality NOW THATS a BIG DEAL.

It's already the gayest music that ever existed. It's just not the right type of gay though. I've never seen so much rough trade together in one place except for gay cruising areas. lol

Gay music has been known for ages to be the dance music of whatever particular era it is is such as disco, house, trance, eurodance. However, shit hop has the least amount of straight artists of any other genre of music. lol

Most gay hating closeted bisexuals (trade). Before shit hop dominated, you could tell the difference between a straight man and trade because a lot of trade dressed and acted just like these rappers. Actual straight men weren't nearly as butch because they didn't have anything to prove. Plus, the thug look and attitude originally came from the prisons and prisons are the trade capital of the world.
