The Hot 100 #1 Song 54 Years Ago - "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" [1958]

Topping the charts for 4 weeks in December and January, this 3-time Grammy-winning tune is also the last Christmas song to top reach #1 here in America.

Here it is slowed down so the Chipmunks' voices are near the originally recorded speed:

That was all one man too: Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. The slower video proves it even more that's him, which is also kinda creepy. lol

lol Couldn't stand Alvin huh? I didn't like what Ross, Jr. did with the Chipmunks though I grew up with Ross, Jr.'s Chipmunks and not Ross, Sr.'s.

lol For some reason I dug the Jr. version of the Chipmunks up until age eight... then I bought their "Rockin' with..." tape and they snuck in the Sr. version Chipmunks and I was caught off guard. For one, Sr.'s Chipmunks least had bass in their voices. Jr.'s sounded all whiny. lol

Don't even get me started on those... They sound too much like certain autotuned "artists" today... mad lol

highfive The harmonies are awesome! I love the way the overemphasized endings ("nearrrrrr") come across when the song was sped up to Chipmunk speed.

Cool tune.

I think my parents had the 45 because I remember hearing it every Xmas.

Couldn't understand this line for the longest:

Want a plane that loops the loop

Music for adventurous listeners
