Stevie Wonder- Go Home

Underrated single from his 80s era.

The video is kind of... random lol Herbie hancock shows up & Stevie sings on a street cornor & runs into some criminal guys lol

This is also Stevie's last top 10 hit

Really? Are you sure about that? 1985 is a mighty long time ago.

"She only wanted to be close to me

To give me the love she knew someday I'd need

But I kept saying girl you're wrong, go home"

I hate that he doesn't play this one any more. When he was in Dallas a few years ago, he asked for requests in the after show and someone requested this. He said a quick "no" and played "Hey Love" instead.

One of my favorites from him, too. Did they ever remaster that album? On the original CD issue, that particular song is mastered really low.

No, they didn't.

I did buy the SHM version of the cd also and it did sound louder than the original cd, though.

I don't think it was remastered, though.

Why? that is quite strange he would say no to a request.

I don't know. He didn't state the reason. He just said, "uh..no" and then someone shouted "Hey Love."

When he had is radio show, he would play live and someone asked if he would sing a little bit of "Boogie On Reggae Woman" and he said no to that also.

hmmm Stevie did Boogie On Reggae Woman when i saw him live in 2010.

He was excited, nice, playful & full of life.

It's just strange to hear him just say no & end it there with requests like that.

That was just the pop charts, he had top 10 hits on the R&B charts and I think the Billboard dance charts, which was for 12" remix singles.

thumbs up!

In Square Circle also provided Stevie with his last number 1 on the pop charts Part Time Lover.

Not sure how many more hits he had on R&B chart...

But he had a solid 23 years of top 10 hits from 1963 to 1985 on the pop charts. Not bad i must say.

He probably gets requests to perform "I Don't Know Why" and "You Met Your Match" and turns them down. He needs to do these songs for old time's sake. Most people who claim to be fans are only fans of the '70s-early '80s Stevie.

I Call It Pretty Music - I doubt Stevie remembers that one (same with Contact on Love, my favorite LSW joint)

A Place in the Sun - he probably turns it down

Heaven Help Us All - same here

Harmonica Man - definitely lol

----

Marvin Gaye kept singing his '60s hits after gaining his musical freedom in the '70s and '80s, but Stevie? No lol

I love Marvin for doing that wink

But i wonder why Stevie is so funny about that... is it kind of like George Michael not wanting to do Wham! songs so he could be taken seriously?

Stevie while not his best perioid, had some good stuff in the 60's....

But i guess he is happier with the stuff he got to produce & write all on his own.

Does he totally just kind of try to forget about the stuff he didn't produce?

That could be just it. He probably don't look at the years very favorably and only does the hits of that period (post-LSW era) like "My Cherie Amour", which I believe is the only '60s hit he's open to do. Not too sure about "For Once in My Life" (besides his cover version with Tony Bennett) or "Yester You..." or "I Was Made to Love Her" (and he only did that as a duet between him and Whitney on Divas '03).

On TV, I've seen Stevie perform a couple of songs from the Christmas album in recent years. Didn't that come out in the 1960's?

I heard What Christmas Means to Me while taking a bath... sound like he re-recorded it this time for some commercial (didn't see what commercial it was).

Here's him performing it at Disneyland

Stevie performed Heaven Help Us All live with Freddie Jackson, BeBe Winans and Stehanie Mills a couple of months ago at his U.N. concert.
