bowie's birthday 1997 concert i've just been listening to the january 9, 1997 birthday concert. it was also a benefit concert for the save the children foundation. it was the concert with guests robert smith, dave grohl, lou reed, billy corigan, and sonic youth. a really great show. i remember when it took place, it was broadcast on some cable channel (probably hbo), that i didn't get and so i missed it. i had really wanted to see it, particularly with bowie and robert smith on the same stage. but, now all's right with the world. ------------------------------------------------

I have a video of this and it's wonderful. Bowie's the best and I love The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies as well. Great song selection and great performances.

I thought it was so obvious who was the great star of
that show.David Bowie shined so much brighter than all these other guests. /peace manki

i do really like this show a lot, but as i listen to it more, the pyrotechnic stunt guitar work by that guy reeves gabrels kind of gets old after a while. it works on occasion for effect, but jesus, give it a rest. i liked carlos alomar or adrian belew better ------------------------------------------------
