Lenny Kravitz - Let Love Rule Still sounds as trippy today as it did in '89.
The title track is one of those songs I wish Prince had performed. Anyone else love this album? Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

Let Love Rule is an awesome album - favorite track, Freedom Train
People like to talk shit about where his music has gone but I'll be a fan until the end. He is a brilliant song writer and live, he has never disappointed. [This message was edited Wed Mar 5 7:51:05 PST 2003 by JamesMarshallHendrix]

Yeah, I miss the Lenny of the first two albums...he was still sort of derivative but somewhere around the Circus album he turned way too predictable and bland. Ironically, a song on Circus, "Rock and Roll Is Dead" goofs on people acting out the "rock star" image, something that Lenny is particularly good at. Anyway, Let Love Rule is really good (nothing like cranking "Sittin' On Top of The World" and taking some, um, medicinal herbs). "Be", "Rosemary" and "Fear" are other highlights and "I Built THis Garden For Us" is the song that got me into Lenny. Still, for me, "Mama Said" is his masterpiece. Who knew an "I Miss Lisa Bonet" concept album would be so good?

Matt I watched a documentary recently where LK explained he was going through lots of personal crap, (I think he lost his mother) at the time of Circus, insisting that was the reason for it's "dark" nature. I must admit, I don't think he's hit the heights of the first 2 albums again, although I did enjoy the "5" album also, and like Prince, even his lesser acclaimed albums have one or two absolute gems on them. Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

I basically agree, but I love AYGGMW too. The first two albums are alternately melodically predictable/static.

Let Love Rule hasnt hit me as much as Mama Said,Circus,AYGGMW & "5"
"more than anything in this world" is my lenny song of the moment. "5" is just damn awesome! hard 2 find a bad song on there... same 4 AYGGMW. Circus is underrated im my opinion. ***************************************************************************************

my fantasy: Prince would let Lenny be the SOLE producer and use no gear less than 25 years old

Actually, "Let Love Rule" is his "Purple Rain" - he drags that one on and on and on...then lets the crowd sing for a while...then walks through the crowd with his bodyguards...and the audience is singing...then people start leaving and falling asleep...etc...

I was really into Lenny Kravitz in the early 90´s. I saw a great concert in Stockholm in 1993. I have´nt paid so much atention 2 his later stuff though. /peace manki

I love the Let Love Rule CD and the positive love vibes that are emitted from it. I played it for a friend the other day who had never heard it and he also loved the trippiness of it.

I hated this guy when I first saw this video. I thought he was some strange hippy freak that was married to Lisa Bonet. But when he sang "I just can't get you off my mind", he could do no wrong to me. You would not believe how much good loving I received from singing and playing this on my guitar to women. They melt everytime I strike those guitar chords.
