Michael McDonald vs Kenny Loggins
VS
Written by the duo with Ed Sanford, both released the same year
It's worth noting Michael and Kenny have been featured on each others products for years, so both are obviously friends.
I love the song, classic mid 80's AOR/pop, but I prefer Kenny's version. Kenny's was produced by himself and Michael Omartian and I wish they had worked together more. I love the outro solo on Kenny's version too which McDonalds is lacking. McDonalds version is noticably slower and was produced by himself and Ted Templeman.

Dang, I love me some Michael McDonald...but in this case here, I'd have to go with Kenny Loggins' version for the reasons you mentioned. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Thanks for the response. It seems it was not a big hit for Michael, which is a shame as it's a decent slab of car cruisin' AOR, but yeah that outro guitar is killer and very melodic, which was a trait synonymous with AOR and thus pop music too back then which has never really come back into pop music since.

This is why 80's pop music (as well as 80's R&B and 80's alternative) holds a special place for me...and not just because I'm an 80's baby either, although it contributes a tiny bit. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
