I highly doubt a song like this could be a top 40 hit these days.

boxed shake no no no! typing

Nope. Same goes for Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen" and Sam Cooke's "Only 16" and B.B. King's "Sweet Sixteen" and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl".

Here's the song that was played on Opie and Anthony:

Got lyrics like "more than just a child" and "marrying you" or whatever... and the song's lyrics at first makes you think it's a love song from a man to a woman but it's... actually a love song from an "uncle" to his "niece". Even more creepy is how this song ends...

Nothing like incest in 1970s soft rock, huh? neutral

Lol fine then, technically they didn't do anything illegal (only while they were in germany, which isn't saying much anyway) But we're talking about what's wrong here not what's legal or illegal, I think? Doesn't matter where R.Kelly's sextape was recorded even if it was recorded in Europe it should be still just as wrong to you...........and please don't tell me you're German Micky

It's not for me to judge someone else's life. That's between them and Jehovah, Buddha, Allah, Krishna, etc.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Did y'all know this song is about Caroline Kennedy? She was 11 when he wrote it ...

This is worse than R. Kelly saying how ''Cute little Aaliyah'' has got it in the remix of She's Got That Vibe.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

That sort of pandering is still going on... razz

SMH some of the worst i heard are from Def Leppard dead

Idk about them sleeping with anyone underage.... But the groupie stories they told that involved mother-Daughter teams is boxed

I think this was mentioned in The Dirt:

Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx: "For us it was always, 'Let's set a goal for something stupid and see if we can do it.' We would put bounties out on stupid shit, like whoever could sleep with the fattest chick. And managers would start getting involved - one of them said there was a $10,000 bounty out for whoever could sleep with a mother-daughter team. Then that became too easy, so it was a mother-daughter-grandmother team. You couldn't pay me now to do half that shit."

Didn't Elvis also date a 13 year old girl?

They slept in the same bed (supposedly without having sex) until she was 18 and they got married.

Whoa but I find it interesting how everyone nowadays overreacts to anything that's slightly linked to pedophilia as if the criminal is biggest shit on earth who needs to drop dead instantly and can casually ignore the fact that their favorite musicians have done something that's very, very similar if not the same. I mean yuck.

We saw how old fashioned people can still be when Polanski was gone after a few years ago.

Many, many people came out to say that we need to let that go, it was an indiscretion and it happened a long time ago. The poor poor man shouldn't suffer any more. Most people seemed to remember that it happened but had the impression it was some groupie encounter and the worst thing about it was the girl was underage. They seemed to be saying "Hey we all had sex with teenagers in the seventies, get over it."

According to the girl's deposition however, he drugged her and forcibly raped her while she repeatedly protested but was too wasted to fight him off. She was 13 at the time. Yet some people felt nothing should be done because he made some good movies.

There is a very weird conflicted thing about sex going on in the 70s. I think it's a product of the sexual revolution that came right before. Now the revolution is here and it's time to shake off all that old fashioned repression. Get hip, honey, don't listen to those religious squares. Come on over here and I'll blow your little mind. Try some pot while you're at it. This is how you make your way into the new world! Don't you wanna be hip?

Some people just went way overboard in the idea of personal freedom and getting rid of those repressive cultural norms. You hear about communes where little kids are jerking off at the dinner table and taught that that's normal. Or MacKenzie Phillips having sex with her dad and being told it's more natural than, I guess, NOT having sex with your dad. People were so busy rejecting all society's rules, they didn't realize some of those rules make sense.
