Holy crap! This guy REALLY loves Mariah Carey.

Anyone who's been on this site for a while knows how much I love Mariah Carey. love excited fallinluv love2 But apparently my love for her must be like puppy love compared to this guy below.

At any rate, Mariah did a skit on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon where she sang "All I Want For Christmas Is You" with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots performing with kindergarten class musical instruments.

Well, some stan from Europe was watching this and filmed his reaction to this song being performed on the show.

I love how in the first 20 seconds how he has this WTF moment when he sees Jimmy Fallon, and then when Mariah shows up he completely loses it. nuts excited nutso nutty

The question is who's crazier - Mariah, Elvis, Michael Jackson or Beyonce stans?

MJ stans eek Some MJ fans committed suicide, camped outide his hotels and have and would go long distances to see him, irrationally ran toward him, bombarded him, besides Elvis and Beatles no other artist got that or gets that.

Mariah's, MJ's and Beyonce's stans > Elvis'.

nod Maybe it's a generational thing. The younger Mariah, MJ, etc. fans are from a crazier time/generation overall than the time of Elvis. Interestingly, though, I have a 10 year old daughter and the latest generation of fans (tween, teen) actually seem LESS crazy than the generation that idolizes '80s '90s stars. Maybe they have too much homework nowadays to obsess over popstars?

Or, perhaps, maybe today's stars just don't have the charisma, mystique, talent, and general awesomeness to elicit that crazy undying devotion response from today's youth. ?

This is pretty much it in a nutshell. Ive seen alot of stans on t.v. and IN PERSON of a variety of artists but I have never seen fans act apeshit crazy like I do when it comes down to MJ even non fanatics get hysterical. Its not the same with stars today ex. Beyonce Gaga, Rihanna even Bieber there is no mysery behind them because they constantly overexposed themselves and they have bland boring personalities outside of their gimmick or stage personas. People were interested in MJ not just the performer. He was a interesting person almost mystical li although in the end that had negative affects on him sad

Yeah, I'm not sure, but it seems the lack of obsessive devotion has to do with the artists, not the kids/fans, because kids are kids across time - kids don't change. So it must be the artists and the industry at the root of this relatively apathetic fan response nowadays. ?
As for Elvis, he was obviously huge, footage of thousands of fans at every show hysterical just like this YT idiot hysterical for Mariah, and 50,000 fans at his funeral - but it was a different time/culture when people still had some sense of public decorum and boundaries.

I agree and to add.

I think one of the problems today is these singers are not real music artists. They keep themselves in the headlines with other things non related to music like makeup commercials, performe, cologn, movies, acting roles, clothing lines, etc They try to make themselves brands to mask the fact that they dont have real talent. These singers are just fly bys they come and they go. There not interesting enough to hold the public's attention for so long. Instead of being creative and stepping out of the box, they copy artists that have came before them because that is what they have been told to do. To model roles, to be the next such and such instead of cultivating them to be themselves.

The industry today doesnt care about fans or fan collectors, they just care about money.

It's probably a mixture of both. Folks still go crazy for those teen popsters and there's some crazed fans that have become fans of Gaga and people like that.

Mariah's (since this thread is about her) was interesting because she had that voice lol and even when she wasn't up to task performing, they're still fanatic about her. lol

Don't forget Nippy fans. As far as lunatics go, I rank them a close second to MJ fans. During the last 12 years of her career, Nippy's voice was shot most of the time. she was really struggling to get thru most performances and her delusional fans would either say it was her most brilliant performance ever or they would make up excuses for her. I heard every excuse in the book. She had a cold that lasted for like 10 years!lol And if you DARE have an opinion that they deem offensive or negative about her, batton down the hatches, because there will be a deranged mob coming after you with guns and torches!

This is an actual photo I took in in 2001 of Nippy's fan club outside my house when I said "Just Whitney" was a piece of garbage.lol lol lol
