Motown's The Marvelettes win their name back from Larry Marshak Someone at soulfuldetroit.com's forum posted a thread about the surviving members of the Marvelettes winning their name back from imposter group purveyor Larry Marshak from an e-mail sent by Jon "Bauser" Bauman, chairman of the Truth in Music committee, which basically is there to stop impostor groups from performing as legendary rock and roll groups from the '50s, '60s and '70s. This is taken from the e-mail (not all of it):
That means whatever money comes from the name The Marvelettes will finally go to Katherine and Gladys Horton's surviving family.
This is good news for the first superstar group of Motown. [Edited 12/6/12 18:16pm]

I wonder how this ass clown was allowed to take the name to begin with. I remember seeing a Marvelettes cd online several years ago and i was thinking dang they still look young but i bet it was the imposter group. I'm glad John "Sha Na Na Bowser" Bouman continues to fight the fight to protect the legacy of these artists. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Even around 16 when I first saw a picture of a group disguised as the Marvelettes, I knew it wasn't really the Marvelettes. The real-life Marvelettes had struggled with getting their name back for years.
