Fantasia talks to Hip Hollywood.

Aside from the controversy regarding her personal life, Fantasia has been absent from the limelight for over two years. However, the fiery entertainer is finally planning to return to the music scene with a new album in 2013 and it will feature a different sound that her fans may not expect.

Fantasia will issue her next studio album by March 2013. Influenced by the work of Queen, Elton John, Aerosmith, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, the record has been described by the lady herself as Rock/Soul. As stated by Fantasia, this new project is about claiming her artistic freedom.

Released in August 2010, Fantasia’s previous album, ‘Back to Me’, has thus far sold just under 500K copies in the US. The record earned Fantasia her first Grammy Award in 2011 when it was honored with the Best R&B Album title.

It's going to be interesting to hear her tackle some Rock songs. She definately has the pipes for it. I just hope both the Rock & Soul will be in more of a traditional vain. Her last album was too trendy for my tastes.

This thread has just made my day. I have always said she should do a rock album! That girl can wail like nobody's business. I hope the songs are great can I think she is such a great singer but the material she's had before has been so weak. This would be a great step in the right direction.

I just don't hear it.

I at least give her props for attempting to try something different and growing artistically. This is definitly taking a risk.

She's got the voice for it. I'm glad she's trying something different and I'll give it a listen as tracks come out.
