ONE big reaason is lifestyle, alot waste the money, also if ure tracks are based in samples you spend more paying for that than making money. VIDEOS are a huge waste, every rap video well most, feature women cars jewelry locations etc...all rented, and alot of these women now on videos demand alot of cash because they know that THEY are a bigger part of people watching the VIDEOS and nothing to do with the painting by numbers rapper

Not really. There are plenty of true independent rap artists out there that are "getting by" just fine within subgenres like alternative rap or spoken words.

my family is very good friends with a lead singer of a rock band that was very famous during the 80's and 90's mostly. during the early 00's he ended up working as a DJ in local strip clubs in order to make money. that was a low period of time for him, because all he ever did was sing, and he didn't have any other skills or education to fall back on for a career or job. now days he is doing very well again, because the band got back together and they tour off and on. and he has invested his money into some good things that will give him money into his retirement.

but i've seen first hand how cold the music industry can be. and if you're young, naive, and grew up poor, you're just clueless once you become famous and start signing deals.

be kind, be a friend, not a bully.

I think this arguement can be made for ANY artists: rap, rock, r&b, etc.

If your not doing other ventures such as clothing line, perfume, business moves, etc then you are not going to make a whole lot of money just specifically in the music business.

The only two things associated with music that artists generate the most money are in songwriting and touring. So if your not touring, songwriting or lying about songwriting credits razz than you are not going to have no money.

"Making it rain" exactly started out in Africa (Nigeria) where they would "spray" people with money while they danced in weddings, festivals and special events or just in general. If your dancing good they "spray you" with money. I will NEVER forget this as long as I live, my friend invited me to her families African party..(I think it was like a afterparty from a African wedding) and I almost made 100 dollars that night they were just throwing 2 dollar bills at me like it wasnt nothing eek. And at that time I had never heard of a two dollar bill lol Just a little bio of where the whole "making it rain" came from. razz Its exactly consider a tradition in certain cultures and they damn sure not stingy with the money. lol

While this is not about music but sports, this video should be required viewing for anyone who aspires to get into professional sports, the movie industry, or the music industry.
