Ok this is too weird. Ijust heard a snippet of this song on sunday and was looking for a download of it today. Question, why is the Swept away album so hard to find? I can't find it online or in stores anywhere. I really want it.

It's out of print in the US. The Japanese import is under $30 @ amazon.com. You can probably get a cheap used copy on eBay.

I love how cool and funky Bernard Edwards made this song. I actually like the Swept Away album. It was one of her strong albums in the 80s.

Looooove this song! Love the groove! Swept Away is my favourite RCA album by Ms Ross and should be remastered, thank you very much!

When I saw her live on the Eaten Alive tour in 1985 (the album had just come out), she performed Telephone as well as several other tracks off of Swept Away. What a memorable night that was...

This was the 5th single from Diana's platinum album, "Swept Away" ("Touch by Touch" was an international only single). All singles hit the charts and were hits. I loved "Telephone", it just missed the Top 10, peaking @ #13! Released over a year later, it is safe to assume that it helped to sell albums and get Diana her 2 platinum RCA/EMI UK album, and her 3rd gold/platinum RCA/EMI UK disc (her 2nd RCA/EMI UK album, "Silk Electric" sold 800k....had they released a 3rd single from that album, it would have probably gone platinum as well).
It was the peak era of the music video and 12 inch mixes. To handicap "Telephone"by not releasing it with either of those marketing tools was short sighted. "Swept Away" had 3 music videos with Entertainment Tonight supplying a hand shot video for "We Are the Children of the World" that they aired on one of their weeknight and then weekly recap shows.
It really left fans wondering what another effort produced by Nile Rodgers/Bernard Edwards would indeed sound like. 5 years later, Nile would produce "Workin' Overtime" sans Bernard Edwards. "Telephone" made fans think that Bernard was the more soulful of the two.

A music video definitely would've worked... but I guess Diana was still in that rapid "gotta release another album" phase before teetering out. RCA didn't know what to do with her in the US after Swept Away.

I would love to hear a live version of Telephone. I wonder if a bootleg exists?
